Please take care when reading the following poem as it may be triggering. This is my first poem.
A Fear So Real
a child of five:
with a fear so real
awaken by a flash
bright and white
she counts:
as she waits
knowing what lies ahead
one.. two.. thr CRACK
she cries out:
now hiding
under her blankets
as he enters her room
pulled from her bed:
and into the night
shes on the balcony
paralyzed with fear
words he whispered:
ring so clear
this is the only way
to cure your fear
she cries out again:
but no one hears
shes alone
cowering in fear
a child of five:
with a fear so real
awaken by a flash
bright and white
she counts:
as she waits
knowing what lies ahead
one.. two.. thr.. CRACK
she cries out:
now hiding
under her blankets
remembering so clear
this child of five:
she lives within me
to this day still
we are frozen with fear
