  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A Familiar Face

Julia walked slowly to room I3. She checked her crisp, clean and white nurse’s uniform to make sure that it would please that new doctor. The one that looked vaguely familiar but she couldn’t quite put a finger on him. Something about the way he pushed back his hair with his fingers, the way he could wink and smile that beautiful sparkling smile of his. It made her shiver with admiration.

Julia reached the room and opened the door. The first thing she saw was a small boy writhing in pain on the hospital bed. And then she saw him. Dr. Andrews. He called to her, “I need you to help me. This boy fractured his leg, help me calm him down so I can examine it.”

Julia reached to her left hand, to take off the diamond ring her mother had given her, and couldn’t find it. She almost dropped to the floor to look for it, but realized she needed to do her job. She helped Dr. Andrews calm the boy down and set the cast, and soon they were done.

They strolled together down the hallway and talked casually. Suddenly, Julia realized who Dr. Andrews was. He was her high school sweetheart.

Then, smooth as butter, he pulled out her diamond ring and proposed on the spot. It was obvious that he had still loved her, even after all these years.

“I do!” Julia cried, with happy tears forming. “I do.”
