Dear Members
Thank you all for being so patient with me and with the staff while we try to implement the new policy and procedures.
There are members who feel that they are no longer safe in their own congregational forum - that it will be overrun by trolls or people who will mock their beliefs.
I want to emphasize that this is absolutely not the case. As members of a forum, you can customize forum-specific rules through the wiki found in that category's directory. For example, the members of the "purple church" forum can say that only Nicene-agreeing Christians who are regular attendees of a "purple church" can post in the "purple church" forum, except for [open] threads. This is allowed.
I also want to point out that CF has always allowed people to change their faith icons by themselves from the beginning until only about 2 years or so ago - before that, for 4 years, members were able to do so. People change churches, denominations etc. and it is unreasonable that they cannot reflect this themselves.
I have also heard from members who are concerned that we are compromising our Christianity by changing the qualifications for moderator and opening the Nicene Creed Christian forums to non-Nicene Christians. While we have started at that benchmark, it is my hope that the citizens of CF will create rules and policy that represents their needs and beliefs. In explaining this, I want to encourage you - if you are not happy with the rules or policies, please go to the rules/policy wikis and participate in the discussion and/or edit the wiki. We are letting people wiki forum rules and vote for mod apps, not wiki the Bible or vote for God. There is a huge difference between the two.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact me, one of my chiefs (Herev, OnceWasLost, mnphysicist, tapero, geocajun, AngelDove97 or constance), or the admin of the team which covers your forum. If you would like to talk to a minister, please contact a member of the Pastoral Team or our Site Chaplain (Constance).
We are still only 1 week or so since the implementation of the changes so everything is still very new and we are still in a transitional phase which can last a couple of months. During this time, there will be some stress and high anxiety - change is always difficult. I hope that together this community can become something that is stronger, more vibrant, and more reflective of the body of Christ in the world.
