I posted this elsewhere on CF, but wanted to share it with all of you, as well. God bless each and everyone of you.
*******
I woke up at 5AM this morning and couldn't fall back to sleep for a while, so my mind started thinking about the things I needed to get done today. One of the things I need to do is put away all of my Christmas decorations and take down the tree (yes, I've been procrastinating
). My mind drifted to a Ziploc bag full of broken ornaments that I have in one of the storage bins. It keeps collecting broken ornaments, but I never seem to make the time to repair them. I resolved to go through the bag and fix the ones I can and toss the ones I can't.
Why is this significant?
My mind made the jump to brokeness in our lives. We often tend to simply collect it and put off dealing with it until later. Brokeness can come in many forms - physical, mental, emotional/psychological....spiritual. When we continue to accumulate the brokeness without fixing it, it weighs us down. It contributes to other areas in our lives that we struggle, as well.
We eventually must deal with our brokeness. We need to assess it and see if it's something we need to "fix" - with God's help, of course - or if it's something we need to let go (ie - toss out of our lives).
1 Peter 5:6-8 tells us - 6Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
8Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
God can heal our brokeness or help us toss it out of our lives by helping us forgive. We just have to lay it all at the foot of the Cross. Satan loves for us to hold on to the bag of brokeness so he can use it to drive us further from God and from the much needed healing we desire/need.
My prayer for each of you is that you will face whatever is in your bag of brokeness and turn it all over to God. May He grant you healing and peace...and most of all forgiveness of the person/persons who caused the brokeness - even and especially if they have not asked for that forgiveness.
