I was watching the history channel and I something interesting came on.....
has anyone ever heard about what is suppose to happen in Dec 2012? About the polar shift? Do you think it could be true. This scientist Albert Gongelez says that the earth will be hit by some solar flare and the magnetic poles will act as a giant magnet and force the earth to stop and start spinning the opposite direction. Making the south pole the north or something like that. He clams that it has happened before and it goes in cycles. He also claims that the last polar shift is what killed the Dinosaurs. It's really hard to believe. NOt just because it sounds a little nutty but because it was on tv. anything for ratings right. Anyways... He said that if it does happen... the earth would not stop untill a few days after it gets hit with the flare because of the force of the earth would be to grate. but if it did then the atmosphere would thin and whoever is on the side of the earth during the day would be burned from the harmful rays of the sun. Then when the earth started spining the opposite direction the land islands and everything would move. There would be earthquakes, title waves and oh lots of deaths.....

I'm guessing it's a hoax what do you guys think.... If you look it up on the web you can find better info then I gave because I just said what I remembered. I know this one guy from church who swears it's gonna be the revelation of Christ. However I dought it becaue he said that no one would know the time or date...

Polar shift is real, and happens every 25,000 (?) years or so. It would be disastrous if it happened, but no one knows for certain it will happen in 2012. There is interesting trivia associated with 2012, like the Mayan calendar ending there, and the lining up of the earth, sun and galactic center, and a couple of other arguable things. But you said the most important thing in your last line: the Lord said no one knows. We should pay more heed to our Lord’s words than to any men’s speculations.

That is true.... There have been many science scares... I guess I'm just curious how God is going to end everything... The scientist who created this idea described events that would be similar to what the bible said would happen. NOT THAT IT WILL but I can't remember what the bible said exaclly but I remember something about no mountain or island would be left in it's place.... SOMETHING like that. I will have to look it up.. The guy said that the earths crust would still be in motion while the core started to spin the other direction so that would move everything.... wouldn't it? I don't know much about the science but when they were talkin bout the events it seemed like it could be true. BUT like y2k and everything else it's hard to believe. I wonder though because the fact that everyone would be saying the same thing.. with everyone being wrong before, it would be the perfect time to come... I guess I just hope for it.. Does anyone know in revelation where it talks about the angle that pours out fire on the earth.... What do you think that would be? a meteor? What does the experts on the bible say about what will happen? Sorry I'm curious. Just It's so hard to understand.

Here are the verses you may be referring to:

1 ¶ And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.
2 And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.
3 And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.
4 And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood.
5 And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.
6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.
7 And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.

You don't have to worry about any of this stuff though, if you're a child of God, Golden_Cross, as the Bible says you are an ambassador of Christ; and the first thing a country does before it declares war on another country is call its ambassadors home.

GC its so easy to get caught up in things like this, real or not don't let it control your life and make decisions for you. best thing you can do is pray about it and keep moving towards Christ in your life. The easiest read ive ever had in revelations was praying wantingly that the Lord would help me read through it. it was quite a blessing and easy read. back when I was 18 it was the computer in england going to be called the beast.

Only if you are a Mayan or a New Ager.

The significance of that year is that what's called the Mayan Long-Date Calendar will come to an end of it's 13th cycle, and the 14th cycle will start.

New Agers view this as some kind of cosmic transformation taking place, and some think that it spells the end of the world as we know it.

The fact is, even the Mayans didn't think the world was going to come to an end then, either, as they made a prediction for the year AD 4772.

Bottom line --- don't even give it a second thought ---

Control my life? who said anything about that? The reason I want to know Revelation isn't because I'm worried about myself.. I have family that need to know this because they are not saved. NOT SAYING 2012 is true or anything... I was just asking what people thought of it. What I'm striving for is knowledge so I can answer their questions. They have asked me questions before and I make myself look like an idiot because I can't give them an Idea.

Respectfully I think you need to be more worried about the fact that they're not saved rather than any significance in the year 2012. Revelation all points to Christ and it's Christ that you need to show to your family members who aren't saved. You need to get back to basics with them and I pray that you would be a good witness to them. Ask God to help you! Every blessing!!

You can find some evidence for the proposition that 2012 is a significant date for the end of the world or whatever. Obviously some of that evidence is occultic. Some folks I believe identify 2012 with being the mid-point of the tribulation or something like that. I have seen the date kicked around prophetically.

So, I see some evidence of its significance. But, "some evidence" is something that can be supplied by the most dubious or sources. I dont think there is enough evidence to make this date of much use to anyone, frankly.

Of more importance is the evidence all around of us of where we are in history and whom we need. Jesus said that His sheep hear His voice. I would take that one to the bank. If you need to know what the future is like, I think lots of time alone with the Lord, seeking the Lord, worshipping, listening for the Lord is a more sure answer to where we are and how we need to live and prepare for the future.

Only significance 2012 has to me is that that is the year I graduate (hopefully) with my MD. Depending on your perspective, that could be good or bad.
