• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't have a web link to this, so I attached the PDF file of the document itself for everyone who is interested in it to view.

[EDIT: Fantine found this web link for it, if you prefer to read it that way:

http://www.cmsm.org/documents/2016_Revolution_of_Tenderness.pdf]

The following organizations sponsored this, according to the document:

This voter guide was put together for your prayerful reflection by a coalition of national Catholic organizations, listed below.

Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good
Columban Center for Advocacy and Outreach
Conference of Major Superiors of Men
Faith in Public Life: Catholic Program
Franciscan Action Network
Leadership Conference of Women Religious
National Advocacy Center of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd
Pax Christi USA
Pax Christi International
Sisters of Mercy of the Americas’ Extended Justice Team

Seems at first glance to be a refreshing alternative to those horrific Catholic Answers voting guides.

I haven't had a chance yet to really delve deeply into it, though.

Did Pope Francis write this?

No, it was put together by the list of organizations quoted in the first post. It does include some quotes from things Pope Francis wrote, though, which they analyze and put into the context of voting. It's just their opinion, of course.

Your link didn't work at all, but it sounded so interesting I searched around for it online:

How wonderful! Now maybe I can park in the Church parking lot next to the Audi with the "Abolish the IRS" bumper stickers and not have its owners look at me as if I'm not the real Catholic. Sheesh!
