They won't stay there long. The very first thing a large group of people needs is a place to go potty. They won't have one there but I assume some group will wheel in a few hundred port a potties. They are notoriously ineffective for large groups over any period of time.

I hope the US has the foresight to send a large number of immigration workers to the border so that they can help the migrants through the asylum application process as efficiently as possible. The migrants do have the right to ask for asylum at the border: Who Is Eligible to Apply for Asylum?

Not sure if there’s a link with this vid but 85 people, a group of LGBT people, have arrived by bus in Tijuana to request asylum. Maybe that’s where the bus reference comes in? The majority of others are in and around Mexico City, but there are smaller groups also. People from the same places tend to break off from the main group whenever there’s a stopping point.

There’s a group of around 5,000 people moving North from MC, which left there on Saturday it seems. That makes up the bulk of people moving North.

But wait! According to the media they were months away and The Donald was being alarmist about their imminent arrival. I am so confused.

85 people arrived in Tijuana to request asylum

Around 3,200 people made asylum claims in Mexico. 2,700 of them have been granted temporary resident status, with the right to work, while their claims are being processed.

There’s a group of around 5,000 people somewhere a day or two’s walk North of México city, heading for the US, where they intend to claim asylum, or refugee status, not sure exactly what the process is. Probably some will try and cross the border illegally.

The Spanish speaking press have done a much better, and more thorough, job of covering this, without the partisan bickering and scaremongering of the US media.

Makes Trump's deployment of troops to Texas, taking those folks away from their families & friends right before the holidays, on account of an election stunt, all the more unpatriotic. Meanwhile, on the beach in San Diego there's 3 folks on horses, a few more on ATVs, to meet the caravan. It's pretty dang clear they're not expecting tens of thousands of threatening folks to be coming in, lol. There's way more of a law enforcement presence than that at ball games.

According to a Border Patrol spokesperson, agents are keeping watch on the U.S. side of the park, but aren’t aware of anyone climbing all the way over onto the U.S. side of the beach.

Border Patrol says it’s technically not legal for people to sit on the fence because it’s on U.S. soil, but no arrests are being made at this time.

The video posted emphasizes the foolishness of Trump's reactions to the caravan. It's not a huge, angry mob, it's a few folks on a beach.

Well my best friend just took a walk yesterday to the beach right at the border fence where they were setting on top the other day. There was a border patrol there and they were installing razor wire on top the fence. The border patrol said that the refugees were causing chaos in Tijuana to be here soon.

Well then I'm guessing your best buddy isn't all that worried about safety issues regarding these folks if he made the choice to go take a nice stroll on the beach near the border fence. The border control was correct in calling them refugees. From the picture you posted of the trio on horses & the few on ATVs, the border control looks about as calm as your buddy was.

I'm also guessing that your buddy isn't currently in the military. Y'all have got no worries at all that you're going to be taken from your families at the holidays to go sit at the border in Texas while refugees wanting a better life for their kids are out in California, like the active-duty & reserve troops deployed as a part of Trump's political theater. Since I'm in the reserves, I don't have that luxury that the 2 of you get to enjoy. Must be nice to get to stroll on the beach & play with your goats instead of having to worry about any of that.
