  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This little boy was not killed by a gun. He was killed by a mentally ill young man. To believe that the problem would have been solved by restricting guns is ludicrous. She even admitted that her son was mentally ill. She doesn't know that he wouldn't have grown up to be a someone with the very same issue that the shooter had.

0.003% of the population ... why do you like posting your hatred/disdain for the US? the number 90 doesn't stand alone but rather depends on the size of the population. 90 out of 3000 is very different than 90 out of 3 million. I suspect that countries that are actively in war situations have a much higher percentage of gun related deaths.

How many of these 90 deaths are suicides...that just happen to use guns? ...where lack of access to guns probably would have just changed the mode of suicide not prevented the suicide itself. One American dies each 13 secs by suicide each and every day. Sounds like this is a much bigger problem than gun control. The problem isn't guns but mental illness. For comparison that is 0.0125% of the population in the US ... and for your information, the number is 0.0118% for the UK which happens to favor rope & hangings. Maybe you should consider banning rope in the UK since suicide kills significantly more British citizens than guns kill Americans.

My kids were taught gun safety from a very young age. They were allowed to touch guns. They knew that guns were not toys. They saw animals die as a result of guns and unlike tv, those animals stayed dead and didn't show up the next day on a different show. Gun safety isn't about hiding away all the guns that actually do serve as useful tools but rather in teaching people the extent of their power. I suspect that more people are killed by cars each day but no one would ever blame the car or try to ban cars from use by the general public because they are "dangerous".

I say the real problem is finding a way to get the mentally ill treatment without stigma so that they will both seek it and utilize it.

Hammers and bats are more popular tools than guns when it comes to homicide. In fact feet are used more often than guns. (Source FBI 2013) Banning firearms will not violence as humans will simply use a different tool.

Would arresting sober drivers prevent drunk driving? Then why do some want to do the same to law abiding citizens?

In American 1.6 million people lose their life every year by violent means. That means and is 100% preventable. It's know as fetal euthanasia, aka abortion.

Totally agree with this, but facts and truth are wasted on gun grabbers.

I just looked up the statistics...over 60% of those US gun deaths are suicides...not attacks on innocent people. Again, the problem is a mental health one...not a "too many guns" one.
It is fun living in a country full of mentally ill people who have such easy access to weapons which kill with a slight movement of a finger.

The thing I hate is those suicides who take innocent ones with them.

yay...
