Actually the Republican party started off Obama's first term by their leadership telling the rank and file to obstruct everything Obama did. Of course the whitewash of this was that they wanted to make sure their needs were met. However their needs included collapsing the American credit rating (which they succeeded in doing), shutting down the US government (which they succeeded in doing), punishing the poor by cutting food stamps (which they succeeded in doing). In the interim Obama did get meaningful healthcare reform through which the Republicans then took to trying to overturn in more than 40 PURELY SYMBOLIC VOTES. Toward the end the GOP itself knew it wasn't going to work. Yet they wasted our money to do it. In addition the GOP has taken unprecedented steps to stymie Obama at every turn: Source: The Senate GOP's Unprecedented Obstruction In Five Charts | Right Wing Watch The GOP started off with the intent to obstruct and they did an admirable job. Meanwhile their base kept spreading lies about Obama's birth, Obama's religion and every single bizarre conspiracy they could find. 6 straight years of this. Obama has taken over the largest economic collapse (which happened on Bush's watch) and tried (TRIED) to turn the country around to avoid Depression. This has succeeded. Every SINGLE thing the Right brings up to complain about Obama is paralleled in OTHER REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATIONS; 1. Benghazi? Look at what Ronald Reagan did in light of the Beirut bombings in the early 80's. Almost EXACTLY the same thing as what the Obama administration did in light of Benghazi 2. OPeration Fast and Furious? Yeah, this was a follow-on program to Operation Wide Receiver, another GUN RUNNING program in the Bush administration. 3. Putin invasions: well did W do anything when Putin invaded Georgia? 4. Failure to enforce laws duly passed: W made a LOT of "signing statements" which are ways the president says "I'm not going to enforce this law". But only Obama gets called on the carpet for this. As the charts above show: Bush had it MUCH BETTER than Obama did.
