7th Day Adventist.RIGHT OR WRONG?

I grew up a regular Christian going to church on Sunday like 90% of you. Well I realized Saturday was the true Sabbath day, and been attending a 7th day Adventist church pretty consistently, I like how they attempt to follow the Bible almost to a tee. Also their vegetarian diet seems to be keeping ppl alive longer... But I also know Paul only told them not to eat meat if it OFFENDS your brother. Also Jesus said dont let anyone argue over the sabbath day.. Or something to that extent & I'm not fully convinced that Ellen G White was a true prophet. (Not even alil convinced)

If someone knows alot about the Adventist please share, positive or Negative. I'm open ears..

There have been many SDA threads on the General Theology board which discuss various aspects in great detail. I recommend that you read them and maybe even start one there yourself.

IMO Ellen White was a false prophet, even as her predecessor, William Miller was. She taught a number of errors with the result being a denomination which insists that salvation comes through obedience to the Law, as she interpreted it. The reality is that her interpretation fails utterly. She relegated most of the Law to the trashbin because it is either impossible to keep today (temple ordinances) or is very inconvenient (sabbatical year of complete rest and the Year of Jubilee). Even the Sabbath was remolded by her from a day of complete rest into a day of religious work.

If you're really sold on the whole Sat sabbath thing, there are other seventh day denominations besides Adventists, such as seventh day Baptists. They are typically very small and very Law focused.

Heard of the Sdb before. But I intend to do my research on the Sda & then also the others..

It is always good to hear from the horses mouth. I am an SDA.

When Paul was speaking about not eating meat if it will offend your brother, he was speaking about meat that was offered to idols. 1 Cor 8 and 1 Cor 10 bears this out.

Many of the gentile converts who were weak in the faith still were struggling with this issue. Like the jews, they believed that any meat offered in sacrifice to idols was unclean and would offend their Gods whom some of them still regarded. The same could be said for the Jews who still practiced the offerings and sacrifices of the old covenant.

Paul was saying, it is better for you to not eat the meat around them if it would offend them. Some of them would not eat meat at all for fear that the meat would have been offered to idols, because such meat would be sold in the meat market. This helps you understand Romans 14:1 which talks about those who are weak in the faith and would eat only herbs and helps you understand why Paul said in 1 Cor 10:25 that whatever is sold in the meat market, you can eat because Idols and other God no longer have any significance and the early converts needed to understand that.

Concerning the Sabbath day, it was Paul who said to not judge one another in regards to the sabbath days. This is Colossians 2:16 but you need to pay attention to verse 14. Verse 14 says that the handwriting of ordinances were blotted out and nailed to the cross. If you don't know what the handwriting of ordinances is, they you can't understand verse 16 because it is because of this blotting out that the things mentioned in verse 16 loses significance.

The handwriting of ordinances refers to the laws of ordinances and sacrifices given by Moses which directed the entire sacrificial system. The sacrificial system was a pre-cross way of dealing with sin. Before Jesus died on the cross, when anyone sinned, they needed to bring their sacrificial animal to the priest and confess their sin over the head of the animal. The priest would spill its blood and take it into the sanctuary and make atonement for the sin.

The laws of ordinances states how this should be done. It talks about the types of offerings such as meat and drink offerings. It talks about special days for these offerings and those specials days were all sabbath days in addition to the 7th day sabbath. These additional sabbath days were therefore directly connected to the old covenant ceremonial/sacrificial system.

When this system is blotted out, those additional sabbath days connected in this system are no longer significant. Many of the Jews still honoured them and Paul was saying, that since it is not significant, you should not condemn those who still want to honour those days. Also notice that the KJV says sabbath days which is plural showing that there was more than one. Many of the other versions says Sabbath Day which would make you think it is the 7th day Sabbath which it is not. I would like to show you a connection.

Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Col 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

So the handwriting of ordinances was blotted out and all of the things it contained were a shadow of things to come. Now look at this.

Heb 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
Heb 10:2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
Heb 10:3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
Heb 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

Hebrews states that the law had a shadow of things to come and directly speaks about the sacrifices that were offered through the law. This is the handwriting of ordinances. The 7th day Sabbath was not apart of the handwriting of ordinances, but were apart of the 10 commandments which were God's moral law.

My personal qualms with Seventh Day Adventism has little to do with their theological positions on the Sabbath or various eschatological minutia. But rather with the flagrant abuse and misuse of Christian history, often needing to radically revise the historical record in order to make it come out right in order to demonize Roman Catholicism and the Ancient Church as a whole.

As a Lutheran, I often see Luther and the Reformation toted about strongly, but rather ignorantly. Nobody who has a working knowledge of Luther, his theology, or the history of the Reformation would try and make Luther out to be some mere anti-"Romanist" thug. Luther had a deep and unabashed love for the Catholic Church, a love which motivated and spurned him onward to proclaim the deep need for reform from within the Church. It wouldn't be until after years of being attacked personally, accused of heresy, and given a bounty on his head that his attitudes would become increasingly more hostile toward the Roman Catholic powers that be (and in particular, the Papacy).

The reality about Luther is this: If Luther were alive today, his chief criticisms would not be aimed at Rome, but toward the vast number of Protestant groups that have sprung forth since the Reformation. For every error that he may have seen take place in Rome, there would be two or three times as many in your average modern Protestant church. Chiefly because Luther's chief concern was over the doctrine of Justification.

The irony is that it may be that Rome today is closer to Luther than the vast majority of Protestants. Which makes him hardly a good poster boy for "the cause".

Dear friend, I am a former SDA of 10 yrs and have studied them intensely over the past 5 yrs. I will point out a few things for you to consider. These things are not popular with either side of the fence so prepare yourself as we will be hated by the world, not just either side.

E.G.W. is not only a false prophet but is the False Prophet that Daniel and John speak about. The first diverse beast in Daniel is the Papacy and the last diverse beast is her daughter, the FP. The FP is diverse from the others because she holds to the Sabbath but is still just the same as her Mother.

Mother (Vatican) suffered a "spiritual" deadly head wound and lived while her diverse daughter, the FP suffers a "natural" deadly head wound and did live.

The SDA church professes to be of a fallen nature, like the Laodicean church but she uses this as a pseudonym to hide the truth that she is actually the church of Thyatira in Rev ch 2, who has a Jezebel spirit and a false prophetess instead of having the Key of David.

William Miller was not her predecessor but was the spark of the Remnant that was snuffed out by satan. Miller had discovered much truth, mainly the truth of the Sabbath day but the young FP infiltrated the Millerites and corrupted them with her wonders, which is now claimed to be seizures from her massive head wound.

Read of this wound, Ellen White's Head Injury

W. Miller mysteriously and suddenly became ill and died a short time after, he died in Dec 1849. Miller proposed to be a threat to the coming NWO so he had to be wiped out of sight. Little information is available about his death as if a cover-up is in place. I suspect that he was martyred as he was considered by God to be a son of God that God raised up to spark up the last-day remnant but satan brought in many counterfeits in that age. A few have been mentioned already, here's my list... E.G. Harmon-White., J. Smith, C. Darwin and A. Einstein. These figures were to further exploit the truths that were trodden down by the changing of the Times and Law in 1848.

Sarah Polk (First Lady 1845-1849) and Ellen G. Harmon were advocates for the changing of Ordinances in 1848 but this relationship has been hidden and the SDA church has disemboweled all knowledge of involvement to hide their filth. They teach their congregation to commit fornication's as it is written in Rev ch 2.

The very elect have been deceived by the FP. The devil has all bases covered from both sides of the fence. The dragon has deceived the entire world on this but the son of perdition will soon be exposed when the world wakes up to the truth.

The Sabbath is the seventh-day but the emphasis is on the day and not the covenant between God, man and woman. Sunday observance is the other side of the coin, also being a focus on the first day of the week so that it identifies with "woman" and not God, this is why there is emphasis on the Blessed Virgin Mary. The SDA exalts Ellen like the RCC does Mary. Like Mother like daughter.

This Protestant country is a combination of the two, forming a New World Order of Sunday and Saturday worshipers, resulting in what I see as "Sun-bath-ers" because they are related as Mother and diverse daughter. Mix the days of observance together, Sunday with Sabbath and we have Sunbathers. The two, both share the same bath tub, so to speak, washing only the outside. This is the NWO under vail of religion.

There's so much more to this but this is enough to demonstrate that the entire world is deceived about Daniel and Revelation.

You have the right hunch about the church, this should lead to further truth upon investigation. The link that I provided is a lengthy article about Ellen so be sure to examine all of it but do keep in mind that nobody yet to this day has considered some of these things that I have mentioned. There is a present truth for our present day, you just have to do the investigation and with the guidance of the Spirit of Truth.

You've capsulized all the key issues that cause people to warn against the SDA: false prophet, not accepting the New Testament's authority in the matter of Sunday worship, and the fact that we are under Grace, not the old (ceremonial) Laws.

All you need is to decide who's right, but I'd say the critics are.

The SDA may deserve credit for attempting to hold fast to the Scriptures and for the health issue, but neither of those is in any way the exclusive possession of that one denomination. You could change denominations and continue in both of those matters unchanged.

Good point, and don't neglect to consider that this means to renounce the woman whom is one of the Pillars of their faith. Have you ever wondered about these so called Pillars of their faith? They are not what they claim... the two Pillars are two female figures who changed the Times and Law of God in mid 19th century but a cover-up has hidden these truths that were hidden in their vault.

The problem with the SDA knock-offs are that they took the woman along with them, only thinking that they have escaped but they are fooled.

What are you talking about? Who are these 2 female figures?

How exactly does somebody believe a modern day prophet anyway? It just has suspicion written all over it. Is it really worth it to gamble when Christianity is already sufficient enough?
Because if that prophet is wrong, then their followers going to be judged on it when God gives the go, to say the least of the prophet their self..
