  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I doubt some of the things i see and hear on the 700 club to be true or of God.

example 1: here they are this morning asking for all kinds of money and telling you even if you're broke and give them a little money then God is absolutely gonna bless you with more money, and thats why you should give.
then they hit you with this bible verse: matt 6:31
"therefore dont worry saying what shall we eat or what shall we drink or what shall we wear." 6:33 "but seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all theese things will be added unto you"

thats the new king james version but of course they used some kind of new living translation which helps put their spin on it.

then they show some really poor family in bejing and go on and on about how poor they are right after introducing a $200,000 dollar challenge to be raised in the next 30 minutes this morning.
Now, with all the money spent just to film the poor family they could've already bailed them out of poverty
Or EVEN BETTER JUST TELL THE FAMILY THE MATTHEW 6:31-33 BIBLE VERSE!

sorry if this sounds mean but i do not appreciate being lied to, especially when you bring God into it.

does anyone else see anything wrong with this picture.
this has been more of a rant, im offering a problem and no solutions, so i guess i'll just stop watching the show
and go out and help someone today, i may even quote a bible verse of my own..

Well sorry to dissapoint you but they are right :D

Mat 13:44 Again, the kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which when a man has found it, he hides it, and for the joy of it goes and sells all that he has, and buys that field.

Mat 19:21 Jesus said to him, If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in Heaven. And come, follow Me.

Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Luk 12:15 And He said to them, Watch and keep yourselves from covetousness. For a man's life is not in the abundance of the things which he possesses.
Luk 12:16 And He spoke a parable to them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully.
Luk 12:17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room in which to store my fruits?
Luk 12:18 And he said, I will do this. I will pull down my barns and build bigger ones, and I will store all my fruits and my goods there.
Luk 12:19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat drink and be merry.
Luk 12:20 But God said to him, Fool! This night your soul shall be required of you, then whose shall be those things which you have prepared?
Luk 12:21 So is he who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.
Luk 12:22 And He said to His disciples, Therefore I say to you, Be not anxious as to your life, what you shall eat; nor for the body, what you shall put on.

Show God that you care for the right stuff and wait for a Big Surprise ! :)

I don't believe it is for you to judge. Operation Blessing and the 700 Club do a good job of bringing help to those who need it. You should do some research before condemnig them. Their budgetary disclosure is transparent. You might want to check out the following website for information about different christian charities including them.

hey thanks for the link i learned a lot,

i guess i was just harping on some of the questionable fundraising tactics and the authenticity of some of the miracles

and questioning the whole "law of reciprocity" thing
they mention where it says "God obliges himself to financially reward those who give sacrificially"

what was the verse in the bible where this one lady only gave like one coin but it was all she had ? maybe that would help shed some light on this for me.

The 700 Club would be better to encourage low-income families to volunteer in their community gardens, or see if any of their neighbors could use extra help preparing meals, or do other hands-on volunteer work. In a country such as the USA a low-income family must put any money they have to spare in a savings account for medical services, or for a meager medical insurance fund for low-income families...

The 700 Club could also suggest low-income families start community medical safety nets, where a group of families pay a small amount into a community savings account each month so that if someone gets very ill there is a small safety net for them.

The 700 Club . . . it's not for every Christian.

If a Christian show is on TV, it's because there are a bunch of people who like to watch it.
Many people like the Spiritual message they share.

"this has been more of a rant, im offering a problem and no solutions, so i guess i'll just stop watching the show."
Right, if you don't care for the way they broadcast, just don't watch it.
I don't care about praying for wealth, so I choose to not watch it.

I really like to watch movies on TBN. They have an amazing assortment of Biblical re-enactments.
Different shows for different tastes.

Hi Sally,

Why don't you write to them or call them and make your suggestions. They were involved in Ketrina and other disasters so they might be receptive to your idea.

God Bless

Amazing that TBN is rated as one of the least transparent charities. There are warnings about them all over the place. Check it out.

Well, that doesn't affect my Life.

When I watch something that is Spiritually edifying, I don't care about things in the background.
If I choose to tithe to TBN, I will investigate further.
Until then, I really like some of their movies. I will check THEM out.

Once a week, I record a doozy, and watch it.
I spend 2 hours, and I learn a little more about the Bible.
And, it's Free.
A pretty-good deal.

Thank you, TBN.

You should be more discerning where you get your edification from. Check out this article.

I saw that tonight too. They had a couple of stories about poor people who couldn't pay their bills yet still gave to the 700 Club. It SEEMED (from what little I saw, admitedly) that they were targeting the poor.

Wouldn't it be a greater show of faith on their part if they just said, "That's ok. Keep your money, pay your bills and feed your family. We'll be ok. We are doing the Lord's Work. He will provide."?

Why do they not expect themselves what they preach others to expect?

God Bless

My ideas are nothing new. However, they are ideas that do end up with tax-deductile assests for the 700 Club. From what I've heard, they may not be receptive at all. Or maybe, I'm underestimating them. I'm back home for the summer and my parents get a full cable package, so maybe I'll check them out for myself as opposed to just reading articles by both Pat Robertson and his critics.
