In 2 Kings 10:8 we read...
And there came a messenger, and told him, saying, They have brought the heads of the king's sons. And he said, Lay ye them in two heaps at the entering in of the gate until the morning.
This may seem like a strange thing to do, as this topic I am fixin to post may also seem equally as strange, but I find these things quite interesting.
Sometimes there is a deeper message hidden in the wording of scripture,
even though we may not fully understand it, to me it just confirms the work of the Master.
I believe this sign of 70 heads at the gate in 2 separate heaps has to do with a sign of time, as strange as this may sound.
This same sign was shown to us in Luke 10:1 when the Lord appointed 70 disciples and sent them out 2 by 2 before his face into every city.
This gathering 2 by 2 was also shown in the gathering of the beasts into the ark, which also has to do with the Lords ingathering process, which I believe is also based on time.
These 70 are also shown in the 70 palm trees(disciples) in Exodus 12:27 along with the 12 wells of water(12 apostles.)
Notice in Ezekiel 41:19 we see in the design of the Temple there is the face of a man looking toward a palm tree on one side, and then the face of a lion looking toward the palm tree on the other side.
A clue to this mystery would be in Jericho, which is called the city of palms, which by the way Jesus passed through on his way to Jerusalem.
I believe Jericho reflects the Nations, just as that Great multitude of the Nations in Revelation 7:9 has palms in their hands.
This 70 was also shown to us in the 70 elders in Exodus 24:1, which were anointed by the Spirit of the Lord when he came down in a cloud and they began to prophesy without the camp.
These 70 were the heads of the tribes that were chosen out by God, just as Jesus chose out the 70 disciples. We read in Psalm 24:7;"Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of Glory shall come in."
These heads(Numbers 1:16, and Numbers 30:1, and Duet. 5:23) at the gates were of the 12 tribes, just as there are 12 gates total in the Great city, the Holy Jerusalem(Revelation 21:12.)
The meaning of the head, is the meaning of knowledge given by God to his chosen disciples. In Micah 2:13 we read;"The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their King shall pass before them, and the Lord on the head of them."
Also keep in mind Jesus is the gate way to the sheepfold.
So why were the heads divided at the gate? I believe it has to do with the dividing of the kingdom, and also the dividing of time.
In Joshua 19:51 we see the dividing of the inheritances by the High Priest, Joshua, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of Israel.
This division of 70 is shown as 70 divided by 2=35; which can be shown as a dividing of time.
This is also shown in the design of the Temple of the width of the building to the west before the separate place being measured at 70 cubits, or 70x18=1,260. Which is also the sign of time at 3.5 years, or 42 months.
Just as the posts of the outer court, with palm trees on the posts, were on this side, and also on that side(Ezekiel 40:37.)
But like I say, these things are hard to understand. Peace.
