Hi CF members

I've come to realise that CF has become something that is becoming further and further away from what I envision it to be. There have been times where I've contemplated closing the site down or selling it off. However, it is time to be accountable and to take some responsibility.

On 07/07/07 I plan to completely change all of CF's rules and forum access policies - basically to simplify them, and to remove a lot of current restrictions. The process of appointing staff will be changed too.

The "new" CF will be closer to my original vision of what it is to be.

A lot of members and staff won't like it - I am making this announcement simultaneously to both staff AND members. Staff may resign and members may leave. However, I've come to realise that this is my website in the end, and it is my responsibility to ensure that it stays within my vision of how it should be.

I cannot give you details of how it's going to be. But you will find out this Saturday.

Let's see what happens.

And yes, this is a completely unilateral decision on my part with no consultation with either staff or members - I will take any and all criticism for this decision, and will be responsible for any negative fall-out from this. For good or bad, CF WILL be different after 07/07/07.

A lot of staff have already resigned, and a lot of members have already left. I guess we'll have to wait to find out until the 7th to find out exactly what this curtails, but this could mean 2 things. Either this will upset people who have already left, further valididating the reasons why they left, and causing those who haven't left already to leave.

Or it will be on the positive side, and it will take care of the things that have caused the members to leave and staff to resign. We've lost a lot of good people, and while it would be bad to lose even more people I think that something has to be done. Plenty of people have left and resigned already. All I can hope for is that after the initial backlash, this announcement will be more beneficial to the community than before the announcement. But that's up to God how it all works out in the end. I pray that for "whatever reason" people keep resigning and leaving CF, that it will be resolved after the announcement.

Yup. Now that I've had some time to articulate my thoughts, that's what I think. I've been here on and off for four years. Even though I don't post much, I've had a lot of emotional attachment to this place (perhaps unnecessary) and I really would like to see it be a great place. It has so much potential, since so many users have the chance to participate. Perhaps I'd also like to think that my four years of waiting for things to get better, might actually pay off.

Bringing the forums in-line with your vision for them seems to me entirely the right thing to do.

Erwin, you will always be the leader at this site---I think it's great you're stepping up and doing this for the site and for all of us. I know you've had ALOT to think about, but I know you've probably prayed alot about this and I know He will guide you. It will be great to work towards the motto of CF and I hope that doesn't change after July 7th.

To all the members of CF, I'm here to work with and not against you all. I'm worried and excited and just can't wait to see the new changes-- they better be posted by midnight of July 7th
