Hi guys,
What's the Catholic position of the 5 fold ministry mentioned in Eph 4:11?
Do apostles and prophets still exist in the Catholic church?
Some evangelicals say miracles ended with the close of the Canon. Yet Church history testifies otherwise. But anyway, they say that apostles and prophets no longer exist, which would also imply that teachers, evangelists and pastors no longer exist. That in itself sounds ridiculous.
Many say that St. John was the last apostle and that there were only 12. But Andronicus and Junias are considered apostles (Rom 16:7). Luke also calls Barnabus an apostle (Acts 14:14).
So I'm curious to know about what the Catholic church teaches about the 5-fold ministry in Eph 4:11. Do apostles still exist?
I think a clear definition of this is necessary too.
Thanks and God bless!
