40 Days of Purpose. Day 8

Is anyone participating in Rick Warren's 40 Days of Purpose at their church? It's a nation-wide activity where small groups get together and read the Purpose Driven Life along with a workbook and get together once a week.

It started across the nation last Sunday (Day1). So, now we're on Day 8.

Is anyone else in a reading group?

Nope, but I started reading it a while back, but I got scared off after about 15 days or so I guess.

I started again a few days ago so I'm on day 3 now.. maybe I'll read a few chapters and catch up...

Well, submitting your life to God is not a small thing.

I'm rather ashamed, but honest enough, to admit that I was afraid of where He would lead me, what sacrifices He would ask of me. I guess I just kinda buried my head in the sand about it all. Make sense?

absolutely. it's a scary thing and a BIG step. i admit that I've made very small steps but i've found that as i've grown older it becomes easier. To give up everything we have is breath-taking. I hope it doesn't discourage you. I believe in baby steps. Babies weren't able to eat meat from the beginning, they first had to start off with milk and formula. Start small and build on it. You'll grow.

I am certain that the Lord considers your honest confession to your brothers worthy and will lead you to a place where fear flees and joyful submission abounds. As you open your heart and confess your fear to the Lord, he will reveal the mysteries of the heaven to you. I only ask you to share the mysteries with us, unless they are not to be spoken. You will be richly blessed for your honesty.

I am teaching it in our Wed night bible study. We are now on Day 15! I think it's a great book!

We started this past Saturday, so today is Day 4 of the readings. I've been through it before though, and I loved it.

Yes, giving your life to God is a scary thing, but He tends to do a better job at running it than I do.

The first time I went through it, I was a new believer. In fact I was baptised after going through it. It's a step-by-step process, continually, never-ending. I hope to grow even closer to God and give Him my life more fully this time.

I'm at a different church now, one in which I feel much more comfortable and I'm on the Campaign Leadership Team. I'm leading one of the small groups, and because I've been through it before I guess my enthusiasm shows because I have people begging to be in my group! I'm glad they want to be a part of it, but I'm just trying to convince them it's because of God that it's so good, and without Him, my teachings are meaningless.

wow, lots of people doing it right now! very cool. I do find myself falling behind in the reading, i'm behind 2 chapters right now, but like that I can sit at home in the evening with my wife and both of us catch up.

What activities have you leaders been doing with your groups that are separate from the workbook, if any?

im visiting family in california and found a church that is launching the pdl campaign. we are on the 3rd day.

this is actually my 2nd time to go through a campaign coz we did it in my church back home before but im still learning a lot from God's word through rick warren and personal reflection.

still praying that my family can join and grow with me...

Actually, I just started reading it not too long ago, and I'm on Day 9 now. But it's a good book. It's been convicting me of alot of stuff, and it's been making me think about things, about God and who He is and stuff.
