Hi......I have subscribed my son ( 7 years old) to a karate course and he likes it a lot. Actually, I liked it too! It has always been a dream of mine practicing a martial art of any kind, so I shyly asked if there were an adult beginner couse. And there is. I am really tempted to start....I will be the older of the course, but last year there was a man who was fifty at the beginners course. Tell me the truth....do you think I am crazy?;)

(PS sorry if my English sounds a bit strange, it depends on the fact it is not my mother tongue.....I write from Europe. Sorry for the mistakes)

I hope your son enjoys his karate classes and sticks with it. My daughter started a martial art at the same age your son is now (7). She is now 19, a 3rd Dan black Belt and fought for Great Britain in the 2007 World Championships in Greece.

As for yourself doing karate, i would say go for it. Its not crazy at all. I have seen men in there 60's start martial arts and they do fine. They know they are not going to be as quick as the teens and 20 year olds. But they do it for exercise and i think also for the friendships that can be formed. Go for it :)
