Two Tables

I set before you two tables. The first table is full of choice meat, along with the best fruit, and grain. The second is full of meat that is rancid, fruit that is rotten, and grain that is covered with mold.

What table will you choose to partake from? I think the answer is obvious. You'll want to partake from the first one. If you partake from the second of the two it would only make you deathly ill.

This holds true not only in a physical sense, but also in the Spiritual sense as well. We must partake from the right table to keep our Spirit healthy, just as we do for our bodies.

John 4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

John 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

The first table here represents those things that come from God, those things that are good. The very things we should be partaking in, in order to help our Spirit grow stronger in Christ. The second table represents those things that are damaging to our Spirit, those things that are evil.

What are some of the things we might find on each of these Spiritual tables? What are some of the things we should be partakers of, and what are some of the things we should not partake of?

I would have to say that you should look at table two. It is good to know the other side. That way you not only have the reasons why table one is good but also why table two isn't. I think many Christians like to live a concealed atmosphere, not meaning anything against you. If you do not know what the non-believers are going through it is harder to "win" them over to God's side. Also, by seeing the other table it shows you how much better the first one is.

Aaron :)

What an awesome illustration of life! We always have a choice. There are always two roads. One that leads to eternal life, and one that leads to everlasting doom.

Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

God says he has set before us life and death, blessing and cursing. He gave us a choice as He always does. But this time He gave us a clue. He said "CHOOSE LIFE"!

As Christians He still always gives us a choice. We can have fellowship or DEEPER fellowship. I think that it is time we get serious about our walk and choose the deeper fellowship.

Amen Blessed_one! I like the way you put that.

Excellent scripture Gerry. It sure does bring those tables into better perspective!

Some very nice points being made by everyone here.

Some more of the tables contents

Table One = Love, May we all learn to love more completely.

Table Two = Hate, May we all learn to keep this far from our hearts.

Thanks Aaron and GMI! It is the love and encouragement you extend to me that inspires and strengthens me. There is great joy and strength in the love shared in God's Family! We all contribute to one another and when one is taken away the remaining ones are less for the loss. May God pour out His Love and Grace on all of us as we serve Him and minister to one another!

GMI I would aslo like to thank you for all that you have contributed to the board. I have appreciated reading what you have to say.

And, indeed, I shall join Aaron in that. It is a pleasure to openly commend a sister for her devotion and loyalty to Jesus. You have set a perfect example of a proper Christian attitude, and your posts are touching, inspiring, and anointed. I have visited your home page and found the treasures there are exactly that. I look forward to many more of your inspiring and anointed posts!

I have only been on this forum for a few moments and I already feel better.

Thanks everyone!

Hey Aaron

The reason I try not to look at table two is because for me that is the OLD man. Jesus is standing at table one and inviting me to abide in him, the NEW man. Sometimes I admit I look back at table two and wonder about the old man, wrestling like Paul did in Romans 7, but then smelling the putrefying and deadly scent from table two and in contrast being drawn to the healthy, aromatic scent of table one, which one do you think I want to look at?

I also believe sometimes we can become exclusivist in our atmosphere of Christianity, but if you think about it, applied in the correct context, Jesus lived within a concealed atmosphere. This was one where the Holy Spirit and the contents of Table One were always present. He was in the world, but did not partake of its fruit (until the cross that is). With those fruit, grains, etc he was able to then offer some of that holistically to those who wanted to leave Table Two.

I take courage in the fact that he took on the sacrifice for the contents of Table TWo for me, so I could focus on Table One.

Does that make my understanding clearer?

Dave
