Vespasia has suggested a women's only thread. I am not sure I wish to be exclusive & thus cut 50% of the forum out of the discussion, so before doing so I would like feedback from other members who regularly post here.

As I said, I'm not sure about this as on the whole I rather enjoy the different perspective a male viewpoint gives to a discussion. I am not trying to push anything on people because not being annabaptist & in your guy's forum that would be horribly rude of me; it was just an idea & if it is a bad one we'll put it right back to sleep again.

As a relatively new Christian (five years) I would be intrested in how other anabaptist woman live Titus 2.
I ask for a reason as I serve as a deacon and feel this is something I should be aware of but because I spent so many years studying the occult and *cringe* working towards joining a satanic order my knowledge is not that of someone who grew up in such groups. I HAVE to be able to work alongside the elders but to be honest do i KNOW the rules????
I feel like I spend my time trying to work out what most people simply know and spend the other bit explaining that I did NOT belong to ANY church much less this one thirty years ago so I do not remember any of what happened then even if the elders DO.
Were I live the quakers are very seperate from others and the exclusive brethren closed the doors to ANY others years ago. *

We have no amish or mennonites that I am aware of and I quess the Plymouth Brthren live the closest to those lifestyles but I know there have to be some BIG differances between how anabaptists view this and other verses relating to womans involvement in church and fellowship from the bible.
I for one would value hearing from others because I was not even aware that this lovely welcoming bunch of people where open brethren because they did not make me feel outcast when I fell (literally ) through their doors demanding someone explain that book of His in detail and they thought Christ was more important than denominations.

1 You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine. 2 Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.
3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. 6 Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled.
7 In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness 8 and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
9 Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, 10 and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.

I have to say that I would probably considered an older Christian (almost 18 years), but I don't know that I feel qualified to teach younger Christians. In fact, the longer I am a Christian, the less sure I am that I know anything at all about being a Christian. Sometimes I think it would be best to chuck the whole thing and just do as Jesus did and not try to fit into any church at all.

I too fit into the older woman category but I have found God sends me the younger women he wishes me to minister to. This may be as simple as holding a little one in church so mum is able to be part of a ministry team to having a regular prayer sesion by phone with a mum on another island. I don't drink so that one isn't a problem. It is about being sensitive to other's needs & then being Christ's hands & feet - something I don't always feel like doing but the bible is about picking up your cross & following Him, not doing what feels good. Is this helpful or am I off track?

I subscribe to a really good women's mag that addresses the whole Titus 2 thing as one of its main, ongoing themes. I think titus 2 goes way beyond older women teaching younger women how to be good mothers and wives, though, don't you?
