No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. Hi everyone,

I am a new believer. I have been a believer for about 8 months or so. For the past 8 months, I have had many dreams, which I sometimes write down, always wondering how one can know if the dream comes from the Lord? The ones that stand out to me, I write down just in case.

In the past two days, I have had three dreams, and wanted to know if anyone could help me to understand them. I would really appreciate it.

In the first, I was driving at night down a road without my contact lenses in. I could barely see and at times my vision was so poor that I could not see any of the other cars on the road. In slow motion, I felt myself slowly rolling upside down, as if I had gotten into an accident and the car was rolling over. I landed outside the car in the middle of the road, but I believe I was okay. An oncoming car was approaching and I braced myself for the impact. I laid flat on my stomach and the car rolled over top of me but I remained in between the wheels of the car so I was not at all touched or rolled over by the wheels. I braced myself for the next car but no others came. Somehow I ended up at home with my mom. She heard a certain noise on the cell phone while the accident was happening and knew what was going on. Later, I called a female friend from church and told her all about what happened to me and I was disappointed because she barely reacted. She sounded like she didn't know what to say.

In the second dream, there was a young woman who came over to our house pretending to be a woman named Kathy. (In real life, Kathy is a believer that I have known all my life and have always looked up to, even way before becoming a believer myself. I haven't seen her or talked to her in a few years, but when I was a child, I remember her as a passionate, loving christian. She was a christian that always stood out to me among those in the church I attended as a child; there was always a light to her.) I believe we were expecting a visit from Kathy, but not sure. This woman that came over was darker, skinnier and looked younger than I imagined what Kathy should have looked like. But, even with her appearance, I was willing to believe that she was still Kathy and reasoned away the inconsistencies in her physical appearance. However, it was this woman's behavior that tipped us off. She came into the house, and changed our thermostat and wanted to take a bath right away. This was very bold behavior and things that I knew Kathy, a humble woman, wouldn't barge into someone's house and do. I kept recalling the way Kathy would have behaved and the mannerisms she would have if she were in our house. My mom and I eventually caught the young woman and figured out who she was. I believe she was a relative (step daughter?) of Kathy, but don't remember this detail exactly. I woke up from this dream feeling nervous and confused.

In the third dream, I was driving down a road and looking for a cup. I had a cup of juice, (and don't understand why I needed another cup, but this is what I was looking for.) I was going to turn off on a street, and recognize the name as a street near the neighborhood I grew up in, Helen Lee Drive. I turned onto the street and saw that it had a steep incline up a LARGE hill and I didn't think I could make it up there, so I got off that street and back onto the main road I was on. I then turned off onto another street (that was flatter) and pulled up to a house that had a table sitting out front and many Styrofoam cups sitting on the table stacked. The top cup in the stack has many things inside. So, I go to get a cup from the stack and the contents of the top cup come falling out onto the table. There was one, if not several, nail files (the little sandpaper-like sticks for your fingernails) in the cup that fell out. I gathered those things, got a cup, and remembered also having my cup of juice in my hand. I came to my senses and realized that I was about to steal a cup from this house and began to feel bad. I looked behind me, and saw another vehicle (a black SUV, I think!) that was also sitting in front of this house. The person in the vehicle looked at me and pointed to the house in a sarcastic/impatient way and I realized that they must have thought I was in the same predicament that they were in: a person who knew whoever lived in this house and was waiting for them to come home. However, I didn't know the person who lived there and was not there for the purpose of waiting for them to come home.

Thanks so much!

Looks like a standard sin, righteousness, judgment series of dreams.

Sin because you shouldn't have been driving without contacts. Righteousness because there was an example of righteousness to follow in Kathy. Judgment because you were aware that someone was being sarcastic even when the wrong thing was happening.

You should pray that you have this conviction in you, about what truly rewarding behaviour is. When you model yourself on Christ this will come naturally.

In the first, I was driving at night down a road without my contact lenses in. I could barely see and at times my vision was so poor that I could not see any of the other cars on the road.

Symbolically, contact lenses keep your vision clear in the way following scriptures or listening to God keeps your perception clear.

In slow motion, I felt myself slowly rolling upside down,
Oh no!
as if I had gotten into an accident and the car was rolling over.

A car is your mode of operation, the control that gets you where you want to go. This had been completely overturned and you were taken off guard.

(Also... I don't want to say this, but it could be an inner ear thing where you really did roll over in your sleep but lost your sense of balance.)

I landed outside the car in the middle of the road, but I believe I was okay.

You lost your mode of control, the thing that could speed you in progress... so had to resort to plodding along on foot. Like getting laid off with severance pay -- you could sustain yourself but wouldn't advance that way.

An oncoming car was approaching and I braced myself for the impact. I laid flat on my stomach and the car rolled over top of me but I remained in between the wheels of the car so I was not at all touched or rolled over by the wheels.

Talent! You knew that to survive it, you would need to humble yourself and put yourself visibly lower than others... and stay out of their way.

That happens. People think about themselves first.

The second dream seems less personal to me -- maybe because dreams I have like that are usually more symbolic. There are many things going on in society right now that are not what they appear, and are influenced by multiple forces. I would encourage you to keep in tune with what is going on around you, and stay on your toes.

Kathy might represent the broader church fellowship you have trusted all your life. The dream could be showing you that the horse is changing color -- that churches are changing and will become bolder, more intrusive than you expected.

Taking a bath is intimate, and she barged right in declaring she needed to be in your private sanctum -- similar to the way churches have turned the traditional member phone album into online lists and unsecured databases.

The younger mindset is eager to set technology to everything, without having lived through the risks of reputations being damaged and safety compromised. They think they are leaner and streamlined because they worked harder to deserve it, but they are just leaner because they haven't gone through childbirth and hardship yet.

Stepchild of the faith you have known, but not spittin' image. Just a descendent who expects to take on the inheritance and run the farm their way.

In your dream you were not willing to accept that things have changed. That is important to remember, when you apply this to real life circumstances.

Djacks17,

There seems to be a common theme in all 3of your dreams. It seems that you're searching for something you need, but don't have it yet. The first dream indicates that you are on the Christian path but don't have a clear vision of the gospel and your role in God's kingdom. Many Christians are being led on this same path because of false doctrine and churches that are geared more toward entertainment and playing church rather than following Jesus as Lord of our lives. The gospel Jesus preached, and that what the Apostle Paul preached and wrote about isn't as fun. It's filled with trials, tribulations and personal sacrifice in crucifying the flesh. But the end result is spiritual growth and a close personal relationship with the Lord.

In Matthew 15:4, Jesus spoke of the blind leading the blind and both falling into the ditch. In your dream, your friend didn't know what to say to you because she is on the same path like you, and has been led to believe that your present courses are the way to the Kingdom of God. It's also true that many Christians can't understand why we go through trials and sufferings in this life, even though we're Christians. We get lulled into thinking bad things don't happen to good people. But God uses trials and sufferings to perfect us. So just because we're going through hard times doesn't mean the Lord isn't with us.

1 Peter 1:[6] Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:[7] That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:"

But God is faithful and says this in Isaiah 42:16- "And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them."

In your dream, your mother knows something is amiss, but can't necessarily put her finger on it. She knows intuitively and may be praying for you in her heart.

Regarding your 2nd dream, I have a feeling this Kathy impersonator may actually be you. Kathy is more or less your mentor, but you see yourself as falling short of this image of what a Christian is supposed to be like and you may not like what you see in the mental mirror.

It's also possible this mental image you have of Kathy is intruding in your life and is keeping you from being the Christian self God wants you to be. In other words, God treats us as individuals and wants to transform you into His image, and not Kathy's. And so this mental image of how you think a Christian should be may be hindering your spiritual development.

Your third dream tells me that getting to higher levels with God is more difficult and requires more labor and risks to get there. But like most Christians, you take the easy path- the path of least resistance. This is the flesh talking, and the flesh doesn't like sufferings and trials. Yet, Jesus said to carry your cross.

Matthew 16:24- " Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me."

But in the dream, you're searching for God on the easy path and stumble upon a house (church) that offers a means to participate in Holy Communion but no one's there. This speaks of dysfunction in the church, or that such a church does not have real communion with God. In the top cup you find nail files, because many churches are only concerned about appearances and catering to the carnal desires of men, and not the spiritual nature of God. There are many people waiting in line to attend such churches, and the person waiting in the black SUV is the typical Christian who is still living in the world.

Thank you so much, Bobinator, parsley, and Gottservant for your replies!

Gottservant, could you give me more understanding about this part? "You should pray that you have this conviction in you, about what truly rewarding behaviour is."

Bobinator, you gave me a lot to really think on! I had never considered that the Kathy impersonator could be me. I will just say that this life is so new and challenging to me and I am learning a lot right now, including that many things that I thought being a Christian were all about are not so. I do feel lost and unsure of my identity as a Christian. I haven't spoken to or seen Kathy in over a year, but I know she was definitely a reference point for me before when I thought of how a Christian should be (This was before I became a Christian); not sure how much influence those thoughts still have on me now. I do struggle tons with fear and self condemnation and you are right when you say that often times I do not like what I see in the mirror.

Thank you all again!
