  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I haven't seen it yet. Is it a pretty R-rated movie? The last western I saw was Open Range, also an R, but it only seemed like a PG-13 movie if even that. Was wondering because we thought it might be a movie my grandparents would like, but we don't want to take them to something super R-rated.
How would it compare in violence to Open Range? (if you've seen in)

I really, really want to see it! But I read that the language in it is pretty profane, is that true? Because I'm not going to see it if it's going to have a lot of dirty language in it. I hate a bunch language. However, violence doesn't bother me one bit. I'm all for action. Westerns are my favorite movie genre.

The better version is the original movie made in the 50's starring Glenn Ford. We did see the latest version with Russell Crowe as Wade (the same part played by Ford) I thought the extreme violence of the new version especially the final scenes was over done and something which distracted from the story. But the original is much more realistic, less graphic, and just as well acted.

Anyone who is more offended by "dirty" language than by living beings being killed or maimed, needs to take a long hard look at their priorities.

I didn't like 3:10 to Yuma. I thought the plot was shaky at best, and carried on the shoulders of the two main actors far too much. I thought the father son dynamic was cheesy and overdrawn, and the ending bummed me out. Basically it reminded me of a slasher flick where you predict who's gonna be taken out next, and the only one left standing in the end is the bad guy who gets away anyway.

Good movie......thumbs up! I would have enjoyed it a lot more had there been less violence though. This was the first R rated movie I've seen in almost three years. This definitely earned the R rating with the amount of violence.

Both Christian Bale and Russel Crowe were excellent in this.
