  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Last Days

2Tim 3:1
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.

This is not to say that the "last days" themselves lie in the future, but rather that in these last days there will be terrible times. For all the way back in Acts 2 Peter applies a verse starting "In the last days" as beginning from Pentecost. Likewise Heb 1:2 "in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son" Furthermore the context of this chapter implies these are things Timothy would encounter.

Peter follows the same sentiment. "First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires." 2Peter 3:3 And such was the case throughout the history of Christianity. Likewise those vices Paul will go on to mention in verses that follow have been characteristically portrayed throughout history.

To be noted that Paul associated "terrible times" not with natural disasters, but rather due to the wickedness of people. Even today, after so much history, people continue to misidentify the main problem with the world. The main problem with the world is not environmental or economic. The solution is not more science, more education, more funding, more regulations. The problem is the wickedness of people. The solution is the gospel.

Hello,

The biblical texts are non linear and express complete thoughts throughout the whole Bible, within each book, within each chapter, line upon line, precept upon precept.

How many do err, quoting one verse at a time and then speaking their subjective opinions on and on and on as if to explain the objective word of God better than God has plainly and simply written!

To merely quote 2Tim 3:1 is an example of a “dependent clause” because it’s not a complete thought, meaning it does not stand alone.

Through following of the objective subject to which God has ordered we can learn the subject of 2Tim 3:1 – 4:8 is “Charges Connected with the Apostasy”.

If we correctly understand and search to know what God as written for our learning we can learn of the subject structure and complete thought that makes up 2Tim 3:1 – 4:8 which subject is “Charges Connected with the Apostasy” as follows.

2Tim 3:1 – 4:8 which complete thought subject is “Charges Connected with the Apostasy” which is expanded below into more detailed corresponding non linear alternating and introverting subject structure.

2Tim 3:1-9 – “The last days. Their Character”

2Tim 3:10-13 – “Paul’s sufferings.”

2Tim 3:14- 4:2 – “Timothy. Ministry.”

2Tim 4:3,4 – “The last days. Their Character.

2Tim 4:5 – “Timothy. Ministry.

2Tim 4:6-8 – “Paul’s reward.”

To understand what is written, we must learn how to follow the complete thought. 2Tim 3:1 does not stand alone, when we follow the complete thought we must read and present the complete thought of 2Tim 3:1-9 all together and also it’s corresponding complete thought 2Tim 4:3,4 which go together per the writing styles appearing in all of the biblical texts.

2Tim 3:1-9 – “The last days. Their Character” is also non linear, as is all the biblical texts, and expands further to give more detailed understanding and explanation. We need not quote one mere verse, a “dependent clause” and give our subjective reasoning, for we can learn to understand the complete thought and ordering of the precepts! Don’t let the verse numbers be in the way, follow the subjects, the complete thought and by putting the complete thought of the introverted non linear writing style of 2Tim 3:1-9 in order without verse numbers, that have been added for memory and location identification, we can learn and read what is really there in the texts!

When 2Tim 3:1-9 are put in order of the complete thought, according to the non linear introverted subject writing style of this portion of text, the following is how they arrange and no words from men are needed “to come to the knowledge of the truth” and the simplicity that God has provided to whomsoever will!

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

And the corresponding parallel subject to 2Tim 3:1-9 is 2Tim 4:3,4, both having the same subjects, “The last days. Their Character.”

Blessings,
