  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Three of my friends and I were involved in a car accident last night as we were leaving our Ottawa Youth for Life meeting. A driver was going way too fast for the icy conditions and didn't make his right turn properly. Instead, as he zipped around the corner, he plowed right into the side of us. Everyone is alive, but my head has been really hurting from the sharp force and jolt of the blow. Chris, the driver hit his head against his window, but he says he's fine. I suffer with a very sensitive head and lots of headaches at normal times, and I really don't travel well - any slight jerk or rapid change in movement (even someone hitting the breaks hard, can trigger pounding pinching headaches...so I didn't fare so well.

Neither did the car which was rendered undriveable (front left wheel broken and bent right in) repairs will cost over 1500$ according to a rough over-the-phone estimate. If the guesstimate is wrong and the car is a write-off, Chris will be very stuck since he lives just past Kemptville and needs his car for his second job delivering pizza. He cannot do without a car, even just to get himself the twenty minute drive from Kemptville to his main work in Merrickville... His poor car is old and had already been giving him so much trouble.

But it's also sad for the driver who hit us since he was driving illegally - without insurance (he'd cancelled it because it was too expensive). Now the repairs, the cost of towing, and the cost of the rental car which has been supplied to Chris for however long it takes to get his car back in order, will eventually have to come out of his pocket since the damage was high enough that police had to get involved... that's what you get for trying to save money by cheating the system. Plus now that the police know the truth, he could be fined up to $5,000 for driving without insurance!

Anyhow, if you could pray for complete and rapid healing of my head, for insurance and money problems to solve themselves (that Chris won't have to pay the $300 deductible out of his pocket since he's really broke himself, and that the car can be fixed and won't be a right-off since he can't afford to buy a new car and certainly not with the insurance money he'd get for his 1990 Ford... he still owes $3000 to the family friend who gave him the car)

Also pray for Chris as he contacts the man who hit us, to let him know that the damage was more extensive and police had to get invloved - the man left before we'd tried to drive the car and had agreed to pay for what he thought at the time was just body repair. I guess you could pray for that man and his wife and daughter who will likely be kicking themselves for a long time, as they make payments to Chris' insurance company, for having cut theirs. I don't know where they are spiritually, but they need the comfort of Christ.  I do know they are recent immigrants, he is a student and she works at a hotel to make the family's ends meet.   This is really hard on everyone involved here.

Thanks,
Kristine

There's nothing they can do.  I've been to neurologists before and after waiting three or four hours in a waiting room they bring you into a back room, test your blood pressure, ask you to walk in a straight line, touch your fingers to your nose, test your reflexes and then tell you you're checking out fine neurologically, but if you want to see a neurologist you can take an appointment for a neurologist but they're booked up until the end of the month.

Then when you see the neurologist he does the same little reflex tests and says you're fine (by that time the throbbing head pain you originally went in about is gone anyway) but that if you want to book a cat scan to see if there's anything abnormal causing the massive headaches at sligtest trauma you're welcome to get on the waiting list for a cat-scan.

So you do just cause you want to cover all your options, then after a six-month wait you go through the trauma of being under the cat-scan table and having your brain radiated for 10 minutes only to learn after another wait that the results didn't show anything of concern... of course it wouldn't, your head injury was months ago so if you had a problem it would just be a small blood clot and something preparing to become a tumor one day.

So been there done that.  Not for car accident trauma but my dad used to hit me in the head a lot as a child and that's made my head very sensitive to light jolts and hits.  Unless you're unconcious or showing signs of serious impairment, light brain damage on a continuous basis isn't something worth their while looking into.

That's just the way the medical system works.  They know nothing I don't know, except they have cool machines that can tell it to me.  There's nothing they can do.

God keeps putting me through brain damaging circumstances.  Maybe there's no point in worrying about it since I can't fight God.  Might as well help him out and start bashing my head up against brick walls everywhere I go...get this over with.

God's watching over you, Kristine. Sometimes, or should i say, most of the time, things seem blurred and very unclear, all we can do is to trust Him, but even that, is hard; but in time, we'll come to see God's working in us, and we'll come to understand what we didn't understand before.

praying for you.

God is with you, he knows of your pains and he himself has gone through great suffering as well. I ask why did the God of the universe and maker of all things with all powers under his authority come down as a mere man and suffer such horrible affliction and he says “because I love you”.

(Psalms 22) 1To the choirmaster: according to The Hind of the Dawn. A Psalm of David. 2My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Why art thou so far from helping me, from the words of my groaning? 3O my God, I cry by day, but thou dost not answer; and by night, but find no rest. 4Yet thou art holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. 5In thee our fathers trusted; they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. 6To thee they cried, and were saved; in thee they trusted, and were not disappointed. 7But I am a worm, and no man; scorned by men, and despised by the people. 8All who see me mock at me, they make mouths at me, they wag their heads; 9"He committed his cause to the LORD; let him deliver him, let him rescue him, for he delights in him!" 10Yet thou art he who took me from the womb; thou didst keep me safe upon my mother's breasts. 11Upon thee was I cast from my birth, and since my mother bore me thou hast been my God. 12Be not far from me, for trouble is near and there is none to help. 13Many bulls encompass me, strong bulls of Bashan surround me; 14they open wide their mouths at me, like a ravening and roaring lion. 15I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; my heart is like wax, it is melted within my breast; 16my strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue cleaves to my jaws; thou dost lay me in the dust of death. 17Yea, dogs are round about me; a company of evildoers encircle me; they have pierced my hands and feet-- 18I can count all my bones-- they stare and gloat over me; 19they divide my garments among them, and for my raiment they cast lots. 20But thou, O LORD, be not far off! O thou my help, hasten to my aid! 21Deliver my soul from the sword, my life from the power of the dog! 22Save me from the mouth of the lion, my afflicted soul from the horns of the wild oxen! 23I will tell of thy name to my brethren; in the midst of the congregation I will praise thee: 24You who fear the LORD, praise him! all you sons of Jacob, glorify him, and stand in awe of him, all you sons of Israel! 25For he has not despised or abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; and he has not hid his face from him, but has heard, when he cried to him. 26From thee comes my praise in the great congregation; my vows I will pay before those who fear him. 27The afflicted shall eat and be satisfied; those who seek him shall praise the LORD! May your hearts live for ever! 28All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the LORD; and all the families of the nations shall worship before him. 29For dominion belongs to the LORD, and he rules over the nations. 30Yea, to him shall all the proud of the earth bow down; before him shall bow all who go down to the dust, and he who cannot keep himself alive. 31Posterity shall serve him; men shall tell of the Lord to the coming generation, [ (Psalms 22:32) and proclaim his deliverance to a people yet unborn, that he has wrought it. ]

*Praying for you*

Peace
