  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've got some GREAT news

I have just heard the best news on the news tonight! Who here has heard of the 30-second kneel down? If not, them allow me to explain. This is something amazing going on in schools all across our nation. Youth are finally taking a stand for Christ. Many christian children are uniting together to take part in a 30-second kneel down prayer at their lockers daily.FINALLY christians can pray without punishment! Over 1 million children are making this committment! They are going to make a difference in our country! Madalyn O'haire caused one generation to loose sight of our Lord but she won't win this one! These children today are the church of tommorrow and I thank God for leading them to victory in Him. Can you imagine the revival that will take place, right smack in the school systems! This is a huge victory for christians. The ninth court of appeals will not win this one! PLEASE use whatever means of communication you can obtain and get the word out on this one. Share this information and join these children in prayer daily, uplifting them. Satan is not gonna be real pleased with this, of course. Christian children are not immuned to persecution, as a matter of fact we can almost guarentee they will feel persecuted at times. But can you imagine how many children watching this could be led to the Lord???? Awesome news, isn't it?

Wow!!! It kinda makes me wish I was back in high school again so I can do this too!

Hey you know what??? Maybe the members of CF could start a movement like this in the work place. Maybe, at some point, when you are officially on a break or something you could do this very thing. Then when some one asked you about it, maybe that would open a door to lead one to Jesus. At least plant a seed. What do you think?

Gerry, that would be great. If the adults could be just half as excited about spreading the Word I believe there is the potential for a true revival hitting our nation! Dear Lord, help us all to stand up and speak out for You! Please let someone, somewhere be influenced by the youth and adults. You are blessing us with an opportunity to make a difference and I thank you for the chance to glorify Your name.

YEAH BABY! That's what being on fire with God is all about! Wish we had more of that stuff happening in our schools here but heck, that's still awesome. :)

I like to think about God everyday, thinking of new ways to talk to Him. Maybe get up in the morning, go outside, look up and tell Him how much I'm so full on for Him.

Sharky, are you still in school? If so then why wish things were happening in school where you live. You can do something about it! You would be surprised at how many kids may take notice and follow your example. Kinda like being God's public relations agent! I have three sons who range in ages between 7-14. Even in this small of a town satan has managed to squeeze himself into our school systems. We can finally do something about it. If only one child takes notice to those who are praying and turns to Christ, it is worth it. If one million youths across our country unite their voices and each one leads only one person to the Lord, think of what it will do for us as a nation. Things are not getting any better in the school systems. Gangs, drugs and guns all infiltrate our schools on a daily basis. It is high time we take back our schools and work together for the good of all children.

Hey Mel,

I'm sending your post by E-mail to my daughter so she can share it with her daughter, who's 10 years old. Maybe Samantha can make it happen at the school she attends.

Good going, Mel.

P.S. I am not Christian. I was Catholic. I do support sincere Christian efforts and devote all my time (especially now that I'm confined to the house recuperating from a serious injury) to the Holy Father.

Actually, children can already pray in schools without punishment. Teachers and other school officials may not lead the students in prayer, but students may pray when and how they wish--if they are not allowed, then that is a matter of discrimination. Most people think that praying in schools has been outlawed, but the truth is that individuals may pray when they choose. The silly little saying about as long as there are tests in school there will be prayer is pretty accurrate.

Anyway, if one person caused a whole generation to lose sight of God, their faith must have been extremely weak--and what accounts for the numbers of believers today? Hmmm. Also, the 9th Court of Appeals did not win or lose anything--the defendants in court cases win or lose, not the court itself.

There's never been punishment for praying. There has been punishment, in some cases, for praying over a loudspeaker, and involving everyone else in something private between you and God. Oddly, the Bible talks about this. :)

Where I live there has been severe punishment for praying at school, and students have been suspended for carrying a Bible to school. Students are allowed to form Bible classes for private study, but they may NOT have these meetings on campus.

I cannot speak for every state or School District in this country. Neither can Seebs.

Gerry and paulewog:

Please visit the US Department of Education's web site. The following links will show you US guidelines for: Student Prayer and Religious Expression, Official Neutrality, Religion in school Assignments, and Distributing Religious Literature.

And the much maligned 9th Court of Appeals ruled that religious clubs have equal access to school facilities. Too bad that it's the most over-turned court in the nation.

If you aren't being allowed to non-disruptively pray in your public school, or have questions about your club being active on school grounds, you might want to contact the ACLU. Here is some information from their site about religion expression in schools.

Please educate yourselves about your religious rights so that you may express yourself fully within the law--if you are ignorant of your rights, it allows them to be taken away much easier.

As wildernesse points out, my position is precisely the one that's been law in this country for some time. If a school is violating the law, the tools are in place to address it. Non-disruptive prayer has been allowed by default forever, and through explicit court cases for some time.
