As a centrist, I believe in the importance of respecting all communities and their beliefs. I urge the IOC to consider the following compromise to address these concerns:
- João Chianca's surfboard: Brazilian surfer João Chianca was initially barred from competing in the Olympics because his surfboard bore an image of Christ. He was only allowed to participate after removing the image, which many saw as a violation of his religious freedom.
- Drag performance vs. religious symbols: While a raunchy drag show was permitted during the opening ceremony, Christian and Islamic religious symbols and expressions have been subject to censorship and restriction. This discrepancy sends a confusing message about the Olympics' commitment to religious freedom and inclusivity.
I believe that by addressing these concerns and implementing the suggested compromises, the Olympics can truly become a celebration of global unity, diversity, and mutual respect without offending religious folks. I look forward to your positive response and action on this matter.
- Cultural sensitivity training: Organize training sessions for artists, performers, and organizers involved in future Olympic ceremonies to ensure they are sensitive to the diverse religious beliefs and cultural backgrounds of the global audience.
- Balanced representation: If the Olympics aims to celebrate diversity and inclusivity, it should strive to represent all communities equally. This includes ensuring that religious expressions, such as those of Christianity and Islam, are not only tolerated but also allows for Muslims to wear hijabs, and Christians to display religious symbols on equipment.
- Private expression: I appeal to the LGBTQ+ community to consider keeping some aspects of their private lives and celebrations private, just as straight couples do. This could help foster a more respectful and understanding dialogue between different communities.

Public religious messaging is fine, unless one is participating in events hosted by another party, which would rather there be no public religious messaging….what is so difficult to understand??
