When the LCMS had it’s recent 2019 convention it was decided to uphold their teaching that God made the Earth (and I guess Universe) in 6, 24-hour days. Besides their literal interpretation of Genesis, what science, if any, factored into their decision?

Was it because carbon dating has been shown to be faulty? And/or other reasons?

Science does not matter; the Bible is not a science book, but when it speaks of science, it get's it right.

If we call creation into question, the flood, soon other things begin to be questioned; the incarnation, Resurrection, ascension, the second coming, the Eucharist Baptism Confession. One only need to look at Churches that do impose interpretive standards, and they digress into decision theology, justification through works, cooperation with grace, meaningless memorials instead of sacraments, legalism... in short, the Church becomes reformed protestant by deviating from catholic and Apostolic faith. (My opinion).

BTW, the Bible and the Big Bang Theory seem to agree when it comes to creation.

Mark, do you know what became of the user GratiaCorpusChristi? Did he become an LCMS pastor?

I wish I knew chapter and verse, but there is the correct description of how the water cycle works. I know there are others; came up in a Bible Study years ago called "Roadblocks to faith".

Is everybody posting somewhere else or not posting at all?
For me, my time is being taken up by a career move with much more responsibility, and more responsibility at my parish. For both, I am truly grateful.

I hope it's not a rule violation to simply reply to a sincere question.....

The site is undergoing some updates and is down at this moment but that shouldn't last long. Purely FYI, a lot of former CF's (including former staff) are now there, and there are several Lutherans in that community.

BTW, I was a delegate at the 2019 LCMS Convention.

Blessings on your Lenten season!

It's not a problem. :)
It would be if it was a solicitation or gofundme, but genuine answers to things like this are ok.
