  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Greetings all,

I usually take the time each year to develop a worthwhile project or a goal to accomplish. Many people in my life (mostly my grandfather) have taught me the joys of giving and how it truly is better to give than to recieve. One of the greatest gifts we have, second to salvation of course, is that of wealth and freedom. Anyone who has a home in the United States, a computer, and a baptist board account is doing pretty well for themselves. I make it a point to always thank God for these things. Why? because a lot of the world lives in poverty. There's a whole other world out there that would count our lifestyles as being rich. We can't even imagine what its like, because we've never lived that way.

Cheese,

Age is what you make of it.  After all it's only a number.  It really doesn't define who you are as a person.  (I keep telling myself that, as I'm turning 30 in 6 months! :)  LOL!) .  I had my "freak out" session when I turned 29, so I think I'll be okay when the big 30 hits!  :)

My New Year's resolution?  It's to write more letters (much more personal than emails) and like 99.9% of us, to get in shape!  LOL!

i've heard of that, Chris, in fact, several people from my church are supporting it, what a worthy project! i'd be glad to help when i get a job and have my own credit card though :( right now, i gotta settle with having a closer walk with God this year, though that... is no small task either.

Saucegirl,
30 was a huge bummer for me. Plus 30 happened during recovering from a severe bout with depression. That didn't help. What really eats at me is all the time I have wasted. I'm 30 and have done nothing with my life. That hits like a ton of bricks. I'm desperately trying to play catch up.
Age...yeah, I hang out in the teen room on this board and they haven't kicked me out!
I guess they put up with me out of kindness for the elderly. :p

I have 3 resolutions, they are:

1. To work harder at college, therefore passing and gaining the knowledge i need to have to be a teacher, i'm attending every class and handing in assignments in on time.

2. Trying to get fit. If i happen to lose weight while getting fit then YAY for me, but to lose weight isn't my motivation for getting fit!

3. to build a relationship with God, i only became a Christian in the New Year so this is one that i would really like to achieve. Also finding a church to go to would be nice!! :)

I'm not really good at keeping my resolutions but i'm going to try very hard this year because i really would like to succeed at everything i do.
