  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey guys, last night I had these two dreams and don't know what they mean. The 2nd one bothers me more, cause I've started having more and more dreams with horses in them, but I don't know what they stand for!

Dream 1: Emily Dickinson had passed away and left all of her things to a lot of people. (now I know she's a popular poet, but I don't know her, or remember any of her poetry - so I have no idea why she left me anything)But it seemed that alot of people pretty much got 1 item. The guy in front of me got a ballpoint pen. But I got a nice pearl wrist bracelet - a lot of pearls strung together with a little bit of gold. (I don't wear pearls but it seemed valuable). My sister got a large pearl necklace, same design. [end of this part]

Dream 2: Then I was in a big auditorium that was filled with people, and I was sad because my best friend had just died. Some guy who was giving things away called both me and Josh (another one of my best friend's closest friends) to the center of the room. The announcer was like "and you get...." then kinda paused, and I turned around, and they were bringing us a young horse. It was probably about 4 feet tall, and I knew it wasn't fully grown. But I didn't really have a use for the horse so I said to Josh's family, "yeah so I don't really need a horse, you wanna just buy out my half?" (not cause I was trying to profit off my friend's death, just I wouldn't know what to do with a horse - can't exactly live in my apartment). They said they'd think about it, and then I woke up.

Thoughts??

I get the impression that you are being given something like a mantle - something of value. Look closer -- pay attention. Not sure if this mantle relates to the spiritual or physical. A pearl is something of worth, value. A horse can be many things, one of which relates to power and warfare. Can also represent a spirit of tenacity, a ministry powerful and capable of competing . . . it matters the color . . . what color was the horse?

You said it was small - maybe this is something in the beginning stages. Are you guessing the height after the dream or was that guess/impression within the dream -- 4 feet tall. If in the dream, even though not mentioned, the number four could also represent additional facets to this dream . . . like creation/four corners of earth/four gospels . . . The auditorium may represent something on a large scale. Symbolism for stadium means "tremendous impact."

isn't a mantle like a cloak? this was a bracelet. like a pearl necklace for my wrist but I don't ever wear pearls of any kind. I don't even wear bracelets (or necklaces, or mantles), I just remember that when I got it, I thought it was valuable. Definitely valuable compared to a ballpoint pen.

the 4 feet tall guess is after the fact. noticing that it was young and not full grown, was during the dream. like a pony, but in the dream I called it a horse. and I'm colorblind, so I don't really know. I'd say light brown but I'm not sure if that's right. If you saw the Kia puppet commercial during the super bowl, it was kinda like the puppet that is driving and gets the "mom" tattoo. I realize that's a wierd reference, but that's how my mind works sooo

not stadium, auditorium. Kinda looked like a big church not fancy though, it also reminds me of a school cafeteria that was full of people - I assume that's where they were having the funeral. The guy was in the middle of the rows of seats, and called me and Josh to the middle with him, and then called in the horse kinda like in a "here's what you've won" gameshow type fashion. "and you gettttttt...." he never said horse, I just turned around and saw someone (unknown) bringing the horse to us.

I had another dream a while back about a horse in a tree... maybe I should post that one too.

When we go somewhere we can walk or we can take another mode of transport eg car, motor bike or a horse. Our Christian walk is like a journey, and a horse enables us to "go places" on this journey more quickly. A major thing the Lord is looking for in our Christian walk/journey is fruit & this brings glory to God (John 15:16,7). When we are doing things we are gifted for, we can "go places" more quickly - we can bear more fruit. In your dream, to me there seems to be a context of inheritance (in both dreams you received things when people died) & gifting. What we receive from an inheritance is like a gift because we don't have to pay anything for it & we do nothing to earn it.

It's interesting that your sister received a similar style gift to you. To me this suggests an anointing or giftedness that is passed down through your family line - inheritance again. Yes, pearls are valuable, particularly for kingdom purposes (Matt 13:45-46)

Another interesting point from both dreams is that you felt the gift didn't "fit", or you couldn't see any purpose for it. In the first dream the bracelet wasn't something you wore & you didn't know what to do with the horse- there didn't seem to be a place for the horse in your apartment/life.

To me the message of the dreams seems to be that the Lord has given you a spiritual gift, but either you have not recognised it, or you can't see how to use it. One thing that may help you identify this gift is looking at your parents & grandparents - what are the comminalities in the kind of work they did and their giftings?

Another thing that might help is to look at the role of a poet. Some very good comments are made by "KATHY" on verylikeawhale.wordpress.com/2007/03/03/ten-questions-the-role-of-the-poet/. Also the life of Emily Dickenson may bring some interesting things to light.

If this interpretation resonates with you, do you have any idea of what this gifting might be?

God bless

The bracelet goes over the hand, which is a symbol of ability. We use our hands to create, move objects, communicate... practically everything. Drawing analysis recognizes this -- people who draw large hands feel capable. The pearls were like a crown for the capability. A blessing or sanctioning.

Emily is known for her secluded hard work and creativity, determination. Look her up... I suspect that God wants to show you things while you read about her.

"Pearls of wisdom"
"Pearls to swine"
"Pearl of great price"

A pearl has been developed over much time, and is valued for its rarity. It starts with an irritating piece of sand inside an oyster clam shell, living in muck for years before it is picked up and carried away to recognition. The luster coats the irritant over and over until it hardens and the irritant increasingly grows in value over time.

Huh, that is a disturbing theme to have. Another poster here also just had a dream on things being "left behind" after death, in that case she discovered in dream her mother had had a secret life online. (Maybe unfair wording).

One poster had a dream of a "wake" for himself meaning both "in my wake" and a literal death "wake".

Some speak of people becoming something else after they die.

Horses often are symbols of forces. Some horses are wild, some are ridden. This is seen, for instance, in Zechariah, and in Revelation, as well as elsewhere. (Drowning horses in Exodus, which is a type of the new exodus. That is people of the land of death, Egypt, and slavery (sin the baby form of death) and their distractions drowning while pursuing like Saul did the Christians.)

I am not much familiar with Emily... but she has a lot of great sayings in her poetry which have made it into the popular consciousness:

Emily Dickinson Quotes

In a sense, the prophets and Apostles were poets, as God told Moses, "When I send a prophet among you, I talk to them in riddle". Poetry is as if in riddle, and also is as in the business of cracking riddles.

"Josh" is short for "Joshua" usually, "Joshua" means the same as "Yeshua", "Jesus".

Likely this person is symbolic for Jesus and the friends & family symbolic of the Church.

But it was a young horse. I didn't think about trying to ride it anywhere, I don't know if it could even hold me up. Not cause it was frail or anything, just because it was young.

As to giftings, I'm gifted at all sorts of things. God has looked over me in a lot of stuff that I do. I took an aptitude test at one point that said I was really strong in administration. Now true, I don't really know what to do with that gift, but I also don't see how it relates to a bracelet or a horse.

I've had other dreams where I was a like a financial doctor, so I'm studying to be a financial planner. I think that is in administration? not 100% sure

Sounds like the bracelet and the horse are connected.

Putting the two together paints what picture? You come across some situation where you are given something that seems very valuable, but perhaps it is also something which you seem to not be able to use so you consider getting rid of it. Selling it, transferring it to someone else, for something else.

If one considers a 24 year old male with a pearl bracelet, you probably would not - in real life - have much use for that, unless you wanted to get to be the butt of jokes and possibly beat up. I am joking about that last bit.

That was not apparent in the first dream, apparently, however.

A baby horse might represent a purpose just beginning, maybe one which seems like it will go nowhere and definitely you can not keep because it does not fit with your lifestyle.

This does seem to be the kind of way you are talking about what gifts you see from God for yourself currently. "Administration" for instance. Like, 'thanks God, but no use for this, can I trade this for something else'. Something else about "something to ride"... at your age you are really just starting out. So, you should expect to see some gifts and areas of study, practice, and so on eventually blossom over the next few years. Often, the directions that takes one can be surprising.

An advantage children of light have is they have belief... belief to believe anything, well, the world and their capabilities are wide open. The question is... what does one really want? No offense, but I would think "administration" would be kind of boring. Of all the capabilities someone could have... maybe that helps pay the checks, but why not imagine something less probable, and a lot less possible? After all, God can grant anything we desire.

That is often a very difficult question we have to come to in our lives... 'what do we really want', or 'if we could do absolutely anything, what would that be'. I don't know about you, but I get really, really bored with the probable and possible.

When you look at Scripture, you see a lot of gifts which do not seem at all common these days. Doesn't mean they are ruled out. May mean they are hidden, both from public eye and from history.

Maybe start asking yourself some improbable questions that seem to make no sense. Such as one might be asked on a job interview, like, 'if you had a superpower, what would it be'.
