  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello all. I want to share some information that I got on "The Passion of the Christ" that will be released on or after August 30th. You can preorder DVD or VHS for only $19.99 at Family Christian Store and you will also get a free DVD about Jesus: Fact or Fiction. This offer will be good before the release of the "The Passion of the Christ" (August 30th). The cost will go up after it released (will go up to $30.00.) So I want to share this to everyone who are not aware of this. If you need any help or information, let me know!! God bless you!!:D

it was a horrible movie w/o much of a coherent story. the movie played like a propaganda piece and only appeals to those already familiar with the story and who were predisposed to liking it in the first place.

it was also boring. i wanted my money back. i'm sure i wasn't the only one that felt this way.

I, too, felt that the film did not convey the message it intended to. While the scenes of whippings, beatings, and torture did help us to understand how our Saviour suffered for us, Mel Gibson went too far with them, and they eclipsed the rest of the film. He should instead have chosen to focus on the positive aspects of the life of Christ, not simply on his torture and mutilation. I was initially very positive towards to idea of a high-budget adaptation of the story of Christ, but this film was very dissappointing.

I only support about 93% of the movie but many people did not realized how bad our Lord has suffered for us. Several people thought he went through a minor suffering, so they couldn't see how much our Christ has suffered for us. I am glad that this movie has been released (since there too many movies bring the life of Christ) but sometime I agreed that Mel has went too far by bring too much blood and beating (also the reason of R rated movie) so if he tone it down a little, it would be better than it has been showing. I hear that several people has committed (convert and reborned Christian) for our Lord again after this movie so that is a good news.

First of all, you are criticizing the film on what you think it should have done, not on what it actually did and how well it did it. In other words, you are criticizing it for not being a different movie than it is, which is not a valid way to analyze a movie.

Secondly, why exactly were you disappointed? It's called The Passion of the Christ. That should have been a clue. Actually, it's a LOT more than just a clue, so if you were expecting the movie to be anything other than what it was, you just weren't attention whatsoever.

Gibson didn't go to far. Like it or not, Roman era torture and execution was R-rated stuff.

Jeremy- I agreed with you and I know that Christ's beating has been taken more than movie have been showing. It just I am concern with some of the children's viewing. I had went to theater and have seen dozen of children watching it and screaming... crying as they watching Christ take a beating. That is my only concern...

Must be an Anglican thing ;) I loved it. Also, if they focused on the positive, and not His pain, it wouldn't be The Passion of the Christ. It would be the Life of the Christ.
Amen. This movie was to portray the last 12 hours of HIs life, and I feel GIbson did an outstanding job. AND, I do not believe it was for people already familiar with the story. I think it was made to make people think twice about eternity.
