"The patriotic Nathaniel Turner was goaded to desperation by wrong and injustice. By Despotism, his name has been recorded on the list of infamy, but future generations will number him upon the noble and brave." - Henry H. Garnet

Saying Turner is "a murderer unequalled in our history" is beyond hyperbole." Even if you think his actions weren't justified I could think of a few murderers that surpass turner by miles.
And as for Brown rightly rebelled against the United States for allowing and benefiting from an evil practice. Osawatomie Brown valiantly fought in Kansas and led the Raid on Harper's Ferry.

You ignore a lot of history. Nat Turner is considered a hero by many, his slave uprising was an incredible event that marked the beginning of the end of slavery in the US. Where is your outrage over the institution of enslaving people. Why can't you see that enslaving people will push them to do desperate things. Your outrage sounds like someone who whips his horse his whole life and then gets mad when his horse kicks him.mickd7 said:If u call the murder of women and children heroic then I pity you. I cannot think of any other person that murdered near 40 people including women and children. Now heroic would have stood up and fought the men in the area to the death for his cause but to sneak up in the middle of the night with axes etc and bludgeoned those babies and cowering women is a disgrace and he is surely in the same parts of hell as Hitler and his ilk.

As for Brown the only thing that can be said about him is he was a wild eyed fanatic that should have been in a insane asylum.

He was the most decorated US soldier in WWII, he was credited with killing over 240 germans in 7 campaigns. He was wounded three times and was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, along with dozens of other medals. He joined the Army just before his 16th birthday as a private and rose through the ranks to become an officer while still a teenager. They made a movie about his war service and he played himself.mhatten said:Audie Murphy?

American Citizenship = American
End of story. You would call the pilgrims and other immigrants Americans, wouldn't you? You could call him a German-American to be more accurate, if that's what you please.
Some women have been mentioned. I mentioned Sanger and two women who were killed at Kent State, and several other women have been mentioned, especially ones involved with voting. Several women authors have also been mentioned.
