Desserts? I looked up e verse in my copy of the NWT and I still don't know what it has to do with confectionary.

Here it is from the ESV:
he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain.

Timmytucker might be simply thinking about "unhealthy cravings', but then it is not what enters a man's mouth that defiles him, but what comes out. Craving dissension, quarrels and controversy from an attitude of conceit and pride can cause a lot of pain for other people, and reflects a severe misunderstanding of what godliness is truly about.

We might contrast this with the statement "godliness with contentment is great gain", which is a godliness that comes from God's working in us, and a contentment that finds all our needs being met in Him.

Hi... I just read this scripture and it got me thinking...

I think for Christians we must be very careful about what kind of desserts we eat. Some of them which include custard, cream, jelly and sponge could lead us away from God's spirit.

:)
KJV 1 Tim 6:4,5 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
[5] Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

Doesn't sound like Bake goods to me?

BTW- The NWT is a text corrupted by the Watchtower Society to support their unorthodox teachings. For example:

John 1:1

NTW
1In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.

NASB
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Greek
Ἐν ἀρχῇ ἦν ὁ λόγος, καὶ ὁ λόγος ἦν πρὸς τὸν θεόν, καὶ θεὸς ἦν ὁ λόγος.

The Greek article ὁ does not mean "a" but "the". Secondly, in the NWT translation they already used ὁ in "the Word was a god." and there is not another article in the Greek to derive the "a" from so it is an addition which makes it a corruption.
