Police say a gunman opened fire on the Al-Noor Islamic Centre, on the outskirts of the capital Oslo.
Later a woman was found dead at the house of the suspect, police said.
The suspect "is around 20 years old, a Norwegian citizen from the area," said assistant chief of police Rune Skjold, adding that the man was now suspected of murdering a relative.
the attacker had "carried two shotgun-like weapons and a pistol. He broke through a glass door and fired shots."
The gunman, who wore body armour, was overpowered by people at the mosque before police arrived at the scene, Mr Mushtaq added.
...
The suspect entered by shooting through the mosque's locked glass door, Mushtaq said. The 75-year-old managed to overpower the suspect, placed him in a chokehold and sat on top of him until police arrived. He suffered only minor injuries.
The man suspected of opening fire at a mosque in the Norwegian capital of Oslo on Saturday has expressed right-wing sympathies online, the police said in a news conference Sunday.
Superintendent Rune Skjold told reporters the suspect, described only as a Norwegian man in his 20s, has praised figures like Vidkun Quisling, the leader of Norway under Nazi occupation during World War II.
I wonder if the mosque attack was intended to give his life more meaning -- rather than going down in history as someone who killed a relative.
