  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Verse 15 specifies that, "..LONG hair, it is her glory..LONG hair is given to her as a covering"

So you wonderful women keep yourselves warm this wild, windy winter, OK?

But if you see any guys doing Absalom impressions, have fun asking them aboutverse 14 - "Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him?"

Come on guys, don't be wimps now..

"Get off ya horse & untangle ya hair from them thar tree branches, pilgrim!"

(Where was John Wayne when 2 Samuel 18:9 was filmed, huh?)

God bless!

So how does this fit in

Judges 13
5 because you will conceive and give birth to a son. No razor may be used on his head, because the boy is to be a Nazirite, set apart to God from birth, and he will begin the deliverance of Israel from the hands of the Philistines."
There again, we are to judge for ourselves. (One would think)

How was long or short hair viewed in the church at Corinth? (A shaved head on a woman, if I remember correctly, meant that she was/ had been a harlot, probably converting to Christianity before her hair had grown out. A head covering was used to hide this baldness.)

As you all know, the first half of this chapter deals with the legnth of hair for both men and women.

What are your opinions on this passage?
What was sexy, and led men's mind to wander in the yesterday, is not sexy and aluring today, the command to be modest still stands, just in a different sense, we can switch head coverings and what not with todays short shorts, and low cut t-shirts...

1 Cor 11:5 And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head--it is just as though her head were shaved. 6 If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head.

See this also ties into gender roles, and what not i guess... i havent studied it to much... isnt cross dressing in the bible a sin? I am pretty sure i read that somewheres, could be mistaken though.
