  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Romans 8:7 (NASB)
because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,

“not even able”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These three words, learned by experience is the last nail in the coffin, as it were, concerning the works of self....
Not even able; in other words, there is absolutely no hope of ever getting the mind that is set on the flesh to subject itself to the law of God...
Than the qualifier; “the mind that is set on the flesh”...
Does this mean that the mind that is not set on the flesh can be subject to the law of God?... If this is true, than finding out what is meant by the “mind set on the flesh” would be of great value...
The mind set on the flesh is another way of saying; the mind set on anything that came from our births, into the life of this world, or in other words from one’s self... Self being the life and the heart of that which was born from Adam....Or in still other words, the mind looking for something good out of the strength of itself or from something in this world....
Then if that also is true, then a mind that is not set on the flesh; that being all that was mentioned above, can be made subject to the law of God...
This great truth “not even able” believed and understood where it belongs, does two things, first, it forever stops one from looking to themselves for salvation, growth, getting fixed as it were...For no fixing of oneself is offered in the salvation that is found in Christ... It is a replacement of the old with the new... Second, then by virtue of the first it puts the mind where it can subject itself to the law of God...
This, then can only be received by the faith of the heart that knows and believes this... For all truths embraced correctly, enter into the heart, then the truth becomes born in the life of the embracer....Which then becomes part of the life, as God reveals to the heart the truth of the life of Christ in one... Which is not according to human understanding of the words of scripture, but the heart sees the truths that are spoken of in scripture...
Then the deepening of truth(s); the truths themselves become more and more real and alive in one... For this truth “not even able” is then seen as the final word concerning the works of self, forever ending the hope one might have in themselves, that there hope might be in God alone...
For in this truth is great freedom, is great hope, and this hope is founded in the truth that God Himself has opened the truth of these words inwardly to the heart that sees this truth.... So the heart might rest in this truth with it’s eyes on God, continually....
“not even able”
Oh the glory and freedom that lies in these three words that the heart itself will know, as it rests in the rest of God....
Be blessed as we rest in the truths as He reveals them to our hearts...
A fellow believer, Not me
The mind set on the flesh does not love the truth of God but only itself. All good comes from God. If we see that our lives produces good works then we may humble praise the Lord for the grace that worked it in us to do as He wills.
To crucify the flesh and dine with Him in glory! Yet Christ must first become our deliverer before we can begin to act as liberated children of God.
Romans 7:21-25
So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!
If every person who is lost is in the grip of such a mind, how ever can they be saved and come to have the mind of the Spirit?
The mind set on the flesh is another way of saying; the mind set on anything that came from our births, into the life of this world, or in other words from one’s self... Self being the life and the heart of that which was born from Adam....Or in still other words, the mind looking for something good out of the strength of itself or from something in this world....
What descriptions does the Bible give of the fleshly mind?
It is a replacement of the old with the new... Second, then by virtue of the first it puts the mind where it can subject itself to the law of God...
Aren't we given a new mind in Christ? Don't we obtain his mind, a spiritual mind, in the Person of the Holy Spirit?
For all truths embraced correctly, enter into the heart, then the truth becomes born in the life of the embracer....
Do you have Scripture that supports this?
Which then becomes part of the life, as God reveals to the heart the truth of the life of Christ in one... Which is not according to human understanding of the words of scripture, but the heart sees the truths that are spoken of in scripture...
Doesn't God give us a new heart in Christ? And doesn't the Holy Spirit lead us into all truth?
I write not to the understanding, be blessed in the understanding of such....
As stated before, it is unimportant that you bear witness with my writings....
What is of value is that He is formed in all the hearts that are willing...
You don't write to the understanding? Is this what you want me to understand? Are you writing to the misunderstanding?
Um, my bearing witness or not has nothing to do with whether or not you're sharing God's truth. This is why I asked for some Scripture in support of your remarks. If you're going to tell me about divine truth, maybe you should use God's word, not mainly your own words.
Of course Christ formed in people is of value. Great value. But God's word rightly handled is of great value, too. In fact, the former is very dependent on the latter, don't you think?
