  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The Norman Conquest, Orthodoxy, and Edward the Confessor

I've run across a very odd phenomenon recently. Apparently Edward the Confessor is considered a saint by both Catholicism and Orthodoxy. Now Edward the Confessor was the last English king of the house of Egbercht, and the penultimate Anglo-Saxon king, dying in 1066. Now the Great Schism...

Do you want to be a saint?

If you will look into your own heart in complete honesty, you must admit that there is one and only one reason why you are not a saint: you do not wholly want to be one. --William Law Only saints get into heaven, so we better want to be a saint (with a small "s"). But, do we wish to a saint...

Highly recommended Marian Devotion for fellow Catholics

I think it might be a little late to recommend this now but, starting April 29th, I plan on starting my 33 day Total Consecration to Mary, which concludes on the Feast of the Visitation. Total Consecration to Mary is said to be one of the quickest easiest ways to reach Sainthood, it has been...

Origen - Saint, heretic or just another ECF?

One controversial subject among traditional churches is the ecclesiastical status of Origen, who was anathematized by Emperor Justinian in an event connected with but not neccessarily (herein is the controversy) a part of the Fifth Ecumenical Council (which by the way my church doesn't even...
