  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    The Abused

Abuse is not a subject limited to spousal or parental physical abuse. It covers a vast array of ways in which people are being abused (hurt, taken advantage of, lied to) every day. And not everything is as it appears on the surface. We don't always know what other people are going through every...

    Why are You Cast Down?

“As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my food day and night, while they say to me all the day long, ‘Where is your God?’ These things I...

Do Good to Those Who Hate You

Luke 6:27-28 ESV “But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.” Jesus taught us that we are to love our enemies. And this love is agape love which comes from God and it prefers what God prefers, for God is...

    Not with Words of Flattery

1 Thessalonians 2:1-2 ESV “For you yourselves know, brothers, that our coming to you was not in vain. But though we had already suffered and been shamefully treated at Philippi, as you know, we had boldness in our God to declare to you the gospel of God in the midst of much conflict.” When we...

    Heartstrings

An Original Work / October 9, 2019 What’s pulling on your heartstrings tonight? Is it concern over a loved one who’s dying? Or o’er someone who’s sad, who is crying? Is it money that seems not to come When you direly need to have some? Is it fire destroying all that’s around? Or, is it water...

    Humility vs. Pride

Mark 9:33-35 ESV And they came to Capernaum. And when he was in the house he asked them, “What were you discussing on the way?” But they kept silent, for on the way they had argued with one another about who was the greatest. And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If...

    My Jonah Story

The Lord Jesus led me to read Psalm 119:105-112 ESV. Back in the early 1980s, when my children were still quite young, and I was a young mother of four, I had a situation in a church with the leadership misjudging me, and honestly, not being very nice about it, either. The pastor said to me...

    Wounded and Weary

I read 2 Corinthians 1 (Select vv. NIV) All of us, at times, will experience troubles, heartaches, or disappointments, or we will face rejection, criticism, or mistreatment from others. We will meet people in this world who will like us, and then there will also be people in our lives who won’t...
