  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Vincent of Lerins and Ecumenical Ecclesiology for Traditional Churches

I wouldn’t dream of denying the Christianiy of a denomination that adheres to the Nicene Creed, like the SDA or the Roman Catholic Church. By the way, all legitimate Christian churches are Catholic, however you define legitimate; the exact qualifications for Catholicity are called ecclesiology...

OO/EO discussion (not debate): Is it a good thing that we show up in each others' churches?

Note: Even though I already put it in the thread title, I want to reiterate that I'm posting this in St. Basil the Great's Hall, not St. Justin's, because I don't see any need that this turn into a debate. I don't want one. (This is also why I didn't put it in the general forum.) It's a pretty...

Coptic Church essay on the Charisms, martyrdom and Ecclesiology

I originally copied this essay from a Coptic website that went belly up years ago, I made a point to archive it when I thought it would disappear off the web (posted it a personal Blog years ago where it was stored). I liked it especially coming from the Charismatic end of Protestantism and...

*Catholic Forum* Maybe sensitive topic: selling/donating/leasing Catholic parishes to other churches

Christ is Risen! Greetings to you all in the risen Lord, Jesus Christ our God. I was searching for something completely unrelated to the thread topic this morning when I came across this article from 2017 in the New York Times titled "Feelings of Betrayal After Catholic Church is Leased to...

    Incarnational Theology (Robert Webber)

QUOTE (Robert Webber, Ancient Future Faith) "During my seminary education, I never felt we really addressed the question: “What does it mean to be a member of the church” Later, when I turned to the early Christian tradition and began, for the first time, to understand what it meant to be a...

Independent Contractors For Christ (blog Post)

The Church is more than an Institution setup to fulfill the Great Commission (This is something I want to write on as far as books go. But wrote the basic thesis down in a series of Facebook posts on a Friends message entry on the basic topic) I was going to write a bit more. Nice to have my...

    Ecclesiology Overview?

As far as I understand it, ecclesiology is the study and doctrine of the Church. This foundational doctrine of Christianity is a true treasure. I was greatly encouraged by this video, enjoyed its thoroughness, and simplicity. I was wondering if you think there was anything of importance that was...

    A Correction...

I haven't put "*Catholics Only*" because I want any and all non-Catholics who have read my stuff in the past to see this. However, this is still a Catholic sub-forum, and I have no desire to debate right now, so please be respectful and abide by the rules. I have been wanting to post this for...

LDS Q&A with Elder Jeffrey Holland at Harvard

This very interesting Q&A with LDS Elder Jeffrey Holland came up in my YouTube related videos (I guess I'm getting a bunch of Mormon videos in there now thanks to the two I've shared here before), so I figured I'd share it here. A lot of it is boring "rah rah, Mormonism!" cheerleading stuff, but...
