  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Interesting and Unusual Eucharistic Prayers

I’ve mentioned my interest before in the Epworth Chapel on the Green in Boise, which is an oasis of liturgical conservative Methodism, similiar to a planned mission church in Indiana being organized by a Nazarene pastor who is a member of the Society of Wesleyan Anglicans, the latter intending...

Our beloved father HG Bishop Youssef is livestreaming services from his residence at St. Mary & St. Moses Abbey in Texas. Here are this morning's prayers and praises, for all who are dearly missing being able to gather in our churches: Holy fathers of the desert, pray for us and for the whole...

The Twenty-Ninth Day (and others) of the the Coptic Month as a special celebration

As today, April 7th, is the 29th day of the Coptic month of Paremhotep (Copto-Arabic: Baramhat), it is a day of special celebration in the Coptic Orthodox Church. The same is true for the 29th, as well as the 12th and the 21st, of all other Coptic months except two. As explained in the book...

A historical look at the Coptic position on abortion

In light of recent pushes from the pro-abortion political faction in New York and Virginia, I think it is good to look at the historical position of the Church on this matter. From the very interesting blog On Coptic Nationalism and its owner Dioscorus Boles, we read: Coptic manuscripts and...

First Coptic Orthodox liturgy EVER held in Saudi Arabia!

Not sure how I missed this one until now. I knew of the talks between HH Pope Tawadros II and the current Saudi crown prince Salman, because it was huge news in the Coptic world when the crown prince visited the Cathedral in Cairo, but I was not aware of anything happening in Saudi proper until...

"Coptic Civilization - Nubian Christianity" with Dr. Salim Faraji on Logos TV (Coptic channel)

Dr. Salim Faraji is interviewed about the roots of Nubian Christianity in the 3rd and 4th century and the relationship of the Coptic Orthodox Church and monasticism in the 5th century. Fascinating stuff, to me. I'm not sure what to make of it as I haven't read his book (seems a little on the...

First Anniversary of the Bus Attack on Coptic Christians in El Minya -- May 26, 2017

Let us remember the martyrs of the attack on the bus of Coptic Orthodox pilgrims in El Minya, Egypt one year ago today. 28 people were martyred, and many more were injured. None renounced their faith in the face of death. They were en route to the monastery of St. Samuel the Confessor (Samuel of...

A Sermon by HH Pope Shenouda III: "Who Is Jesus?" (with English Subtitles)

I just found this very nice sermon by HH Pope Shenouda III on the answers to our Lord's question "Who do you say that I am?", posted with English subtitles courtesy of Coptic Youth Channel (CYC). Sometimes those subtitles can be a little bit off grammatically, but this does not compromise the...
