Muslim and Bahais vs Hindues and Christians--monothiesm and God's manifest name

The more I read Arthra's post the more I am convinced that he exceeds everyone else here in terms of awesomeness. :sorry:

    Basic Overview of Hinduism

I would like to say that if someone here has decided to look at or study a certain religion, I would imagine we would have the common courtesy to not badger him/her about it as I am seeing her. It's their decision, not yours. Anyways, baobobtree, I think we're common in that we approach Sanata...

    Hinduism and violence

You both need to grow up. I'd like to advise everyone to just ignore this post and the posters who are spouting whatever idiocy they need in an attempt to "win" this argument. I would also reccomend this thread to be closed, but I guess that's not going to happen. I would also like to tell...

    The caricature controversy

I did not say anything about that. I'm commenting on what the Danish cartoonists did (and I would do the same to anybody). I thought that at least in our Western world, we were above such things as "they did it first so we can too!".

    Irshad Manji

Actually, there are at least two (Sunni & Shiite)

    The caricature controversy

Actually, I'd have to agree with Steezie. I don't know about all those cartoons, but there was one with Muhammed with a bomb in his turban. Sorry, I think that's a bit overboard there. I mean we'd like Muslims to not associate themselves with terrorism, and they want that too, and certainly...

    Buddhism

The "fat laughing Buddhas" are actually from Chinese culture, and most people believe that it is not connected to the founder of Buddhism, Siddhārtha Gautama, rather it is a representation of someone else, you can read on that here: You can see that here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotei...

    Baha'i, what is it?

I'm not a member of it, but I do know it's a great religion that seems to contain a lot of solutions to common problems that people have following their usual religions - tolerance, equity.

    Hindu Tolerance

So, let's recap here... Because you know people who label themselves as Hindus, as materialistic.... ...your opinion is that the Hindu religion teaches materialism. Whatever works for you.... I've read about lots of violent Christians who commit mass murder.... Therefore my...

    Hindu Tolerance

Depends on what you consider athiest. Some people think athiesm means lack of anything spiritual (or a synonym for secular), some people think it means lack of belief in a kind of personal deity. Depending on your definition, Buddhism & some views of Hinduism can be considered athiestic...

    Hindu Tolerance

Oh? I'm trying to find the quote where I said that. Searching. Searching. ....searching. Why don't you answer my posts instead of making up false claims about me? And I suppose if I reported this no one would consider it as important as my "personal attacks" against you, I bet...

    Hindu Tolerance

This is so ridiculous it's not even funny. I read about some Christian missionaries who murdered African tribes too. Should I now say "if you knew the kind of missionaries I did, you wouldn't say Christianity doesn't promote mass murder". Come on arunma, that was just ridiculous.

    why do people hate jews?

I would hope not, since that would be like me criticizing the Christian practices of witch burning/unwilling convert murder and slavery. (i also noticed you conveniently forgot the discussion in the other thread on this subject. Sometimes I wonder why people even bother coming to discussion...

    Hindu Tolerance

I believe he's talking about something like this: http://hinduism.about.com/library/weekly/aa062901b.htm However, I would prefer to seperate religion and Vedic mathematics.

    Hindu Tolerance

Who knows? I believe they may have gotten too angry at the board for their portrayals and damage it could cause and perhaps overreacted in this. Though I should mention until we get more sources confirming this it's a lightweight topic to discuss. But you are wrong to say that nationalists...

    Hindu Tolerance

But those Hindus were indeed responding to something began already by the California board. Do you believe that had it never started they would suddenly have wanted textbooks to include theological discussion? No, they were responding to those gross innacuracies already spread by those textbooks.

    Hindu Tolerance

And I'm sure Hindus have no problem with that. The only problem they would have is when they are entered into textbooks viewed by hundreds, thousands of students, but innacurately.

    Hindu Tolerance

But they have already entered textbooks, as lies, misconceptions and selective "facts", as was discussed earlier. I guess the only real problem some people would have is, the actual Hinduism being taught.
