Afraid to step on toes, but here it goes...

I don't think that the title of this forum is accurate. It states Eastern Orthodox (Russian, Greek) and Coptic (Assyrian, Ethiopian) Christianity. The Eastern Orthodox section is inadequate, since there are also Antiochian Orthodox (Arabs from the Syria, Lebanon, Israel region). This...

    What are you reading?

I'm working my way through Zizioulas "Being as Communion" and just purchased Lossky's "The Mystical Theology of the Eastern Church"

    Interesting development

Interesting to see a new forum devoted to Eastern Christianity.  Of course there is the concern that there may not be enough participants to justify it, but this remains to be seen.  My thanks to brewmama for bravely representing Orthodoxy by herself.  Perhaps I should return to...

    Orthodoxy's Cyprianisms

When speaking of Cyprianic ecclesiology, there are two main elements one usually thinks of, the first, and most prominent is concerning the nature of the Church, while the secondary aspect is the structure of his ecclesiology. It was this secondary element which was the focus of my Cyprianic...

    The Epistemology of Irenaeus

Irenaeus sets down an epistemology centered on Christ as the Logos of God, whose words are found in the Old Testament1 as well as in the teachings of His disciples, the Apostles2.  This doctrine of the Apostles was at first transmitted by way of preaching, and, at a later point, by the...

    To Kern

I wish to apologize to you, and to say that you were correct concerning the compatability of your view of the Pentateuchal authorship with the teachings of Catholicism. Thank you for providing the quote from the Catechism on the subject, and again, my apologies for having bothered you...

    Pentateuchal Criticism for Chris

Dear Chris, I would strongly recommend Derek Kidner's introduction to Genesis as a scholarly refutation of JEPD. It is available for purchase from a variety of vendors.  You may look at this website and select one if you like...

A North African (Cyprianic) proposal for ecclesiology

I have been attempting a compromise solution between Catholic and Orthodox ecclesiology, and I believe I may have found one. The compromise is based upon what I understand to be North African ecclesiology, largely Cyprian, although some Augustine is also considered.  The benefit I see in...

    For any interested

This should be a good discussion, and at very least be an education into Orthodox ecclesiology *Website removed.  It is a violation of CF Rule #3 to post links for the purposes of promoting another website.

Thank you for making me welcome

I think I will be participating here less, as this does not seem to be the appropriate venue for the questions I have. If you want to see what I'm up to you can find me at these forums: Orthodox - http://pub135.ezboard.com/bnicholasforum88957 Catholic -...

    Anyone with intra-faith marriage experience?

If you have advice I'll take it, but honestly I'm just posting this because it's got me down a little tonight. My spouse was born and raised Presbyterian and is strongly non-liturgical, to the point that any liturgy is detrimental to worship, even if it is Protestant, like Lutherans. I on...

    Question on Apostle's Creed

How often is the Apostle's Creed used in comparison to the Latin Creed, and is it used for different functions, i.e., the Latin Creed would be used for baptisms and not the Apostle's, or the Latin Creed would be used in this kind of situation and not the Apostle's. So I guess I'm asking for...

How much is the Apostle's Creed used?

Compared with the Latin Creed (until further notice my name for the creed which is similarly worded to the Nicene-Constantinoplitan Creed but with the addition of the filoque) how much is the Apostle's Creed used?

What do you all think of this?

107th CONGRESS 2d Session S. J. RES. 45 To authorize the use of United States Armed Forces against Iraq. IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES September 26, 2002 Mr. DASCHLE (for himself and Mr. LOTT) introduced the following joint resolution; which was read the first time...

    A question on History

Does anyone have opinions on, or read literature which addresses, the effects of the influx of barbarian tribes (i.e., Franks, Goths, Visigoths, etc.) in the west on relations between eastern and western Christianity?

    Sorry to ask again...

but I didn't feel like I received a very good answer the last time. What would you, the Catholic adherents of this forum (please no non-Catholic responses), say to someone interested in or already an adherent of Orthodoxy? Why should such a person consider Catholicism? Let me reiterate...

    Smilies

Has anyone noticed the funny faces these smilies make when selected?  What I mean is drag the mouse over them so that they are highlighted and look at the faces.  The smile turnes into a sad face, the winker gets angry, and the happy bouncer gets confused or something like it.
