but keep in mind he was encouraging blasphemy against Jesus himself, and Jesus specifically said that blasphemy against him can be forgiven, whether its through one's own mouth or if its encouraged.

Because I was consumed by a lot of anxiety that I had committed the sin myself, I asked somebody else to say the same words I did so I could feel better about myself and rid myself of the guilt that came from badmouthing God. Little did I know that the sin of encouraging this same sin would be...

It's a good mix of both. But guilt from the devil is definitely no indication that the Holy Spirit is still drawing the guilty person in

Have I blasphemed the Holy Spirit?

Kenny, you’re right in the sense that it is attributing the works of the Holy Spirit to the devil. We don’t hear people say that on a daily, but we hear people say things against god in general. Point is, it doesn’t matter what exactly you say, you can say the least offensive thing but it only...

Have I blasphemed the Holy Spirit?

This thread will probably be locked or deleted by the end of the day, but I came up with a good conclusion I think everyone here SHOULD agree with. Think about it: we’re not wizards who avada kedavra ourselves out of heaven with a specific combination of words. It doesn’t work that way. Of...

Have I blasphemed the Holy Spirit?

I very much agree. And kenny, Jesus warned the Pharisees even after they said he had an unclean spirit. He didn’t condemn them right away. Which substantiates the idea that it is not a one-strike and you’re out thing where you hurt god’s feelings and he says “whoops, you go to hell”

Have I blasphemed the Holy Spirit?

Let’s come to an agreement. Those words are unforgivable BUT requires an irreversible hatred towards God. So saying some words under duress doesn’t count, because God knows our hearts very well. Better than we do. And if you’re worried you haven’t committed it, it’s because you were not saying...

Have I blasphemed the Holy Spirit?

What about his promise to not cast away people who come to him in genuine repentance? If you're correct, then god would be a liar. And we all know God isn't a liar.

Have I blasphemed the Holy Spirit?

Okay, and what if somebody repents of this sin? If somebody repents of it and is denied forgiveness, that contradicts many many other verses in the bible. You're telling me to base my answers off of scripture alone, and I am doing so. And for this reason, we all can conclude that an unforgivable...

Have I blasphemed the Holy Spirit?

I edited out the description so I wouldn't get any more responses. Feel free to send me a private message so we can discuss this further?

Have I blasphemed the Holy Spirit?

No, we're agreeing that the sin actually requires some kind of an effort to commit, and it's not as simple as uttering blasphemous words. So no, it's not that an unforgivable sin BECOMES forgivable, its that the sin becomes unforgivable when a person crosses a line. (their heart grows hard) u...

Have I blasphemed the Holy Spirit?

So verbally calling him the devil doesn't really count as long as it doesn't involve a hardened heart, right?

Have I blasphemed the Holy Spirit?

I see your point, but I also think it doesn't have to be limited to words. I think it matters more your heart. What else do you think constitutes to being blasphemy of the H.S?

Have I blasphemed the Holy Spirit?

Hmm okay, do you think I can still be forgiven? I already tried repenting so many times, but I know I'll keep going

    Hello!!

Catholic BUT I'm just adding the Catholic stuff to all the Protestant beliefs I completely agree with. For example, Catholics believe that salvation is achieved through good works, but I believe it's the other way around: that good works are a consequence of salvation.

Have I blasphemed the Holy Spirit?

well, I'd say that depends. Assuming this person is an unbeliever and slanders God and the Holy Spirit, that person may keep up with that attitude until death and be damned. Otherwise, that person may come to God. so I don't think it's a matter of what circumstances you're in, whether you're an...

Have I blasphemed the Holy Spirit?

hmm okay, I wouldn't say PERFECT knowledge because I don't think there's a lot of Christians in the world who has a perfect knowledge of God, nobody really does. I definitely have never told anybody that God's evil, I kept it to myself. I would only tell other people what I said to get a little...
