    Word-based Church

Word-based denomination should be separated from charismatic ones. But I guess the line is blurry, as you said many denominations claim to be word based. I have come to realise the situation. Thank you:)

    Word-based Church

Oops! I actually changed my mind about replying because I felt misunderstood. Somehow my half-reply got posted. Perhaps, it isn't a bad thing... Simply put, some churches that had previously preached the WORD of God have migrated to some form of charismatic practices. That's where I do not want...

    Word-based Church

What I meant is that I know very little about denominations and their practices. I know I needed to go to word-based church that That's very helpful. Thank you:)

Thank you for the suggestion. I guess I missed that one. I will do just that. To all, my apologies if I have caused offence to some. It wasn't intentional:)

    Word-based Church

Roman Catholics practice stuff not prescribed in the Holy Scripture, in addition, they have their own bible. The Lutheran church in my area has close connection with the Catholic church. Thanks:)

    Word-based Church

I don't think Lutheran church should be on my list too. Thanks:)

    Word-based Church

Roman Catholic would not be an option for me, definitely. Thanks:)

    Word-based Church

Hi, I'm considering moving to a word-based (non-charismatic) church, but I have little knowledge about what those different denominations' beliefs and practices are. What's available for my consideration? Many thanks:)

Questions about Temple of Heaven (Beijing)

Thanks to all for the kind response. I have a very faint understanding about this temple which I understood to be built for the worship of the same Creator God we christians believe in. Just that dragons do not seem to be a good thing according to the Bible. If anyone of you can point me to good...

In your replies, it would be helpful if you indicate the denomination you come from. Many thanks:)

Questions about Temple of Heaven (Beijing)

Hi everyone, I was recently in Beijing and I visited the Temple of Heaven. Is this a place christians should visit? I also noticed dragons inscribed in many places within the Temple compound. What do they symbolise? Also prominent are animal-like figurings on the roof tops. Are they idol...

    Acts 2 vs 1 Cor 14

You are right that I'm immature, and I have pride and greed. I'm dealing with them along with many other things :). I cannot take away my belief that tongues and prophesies (a majority of them) are meaningless, inaccurate and questionable. Judge them by their fruits! How do (unidentifiable)...

    Acts 2 vs 1 Cor 14

I believe gifts are not dead. I believe in gifts of teaching, mercy, etc. These gifts are quantifiable. They benefit the church and those in need.

    Acts 2 vs 1 Cor 14

As in my previous post, I mentioned that I was prepared to believe anything as a young christian. I've heard and seen some of these things you have described, although not to that extend. I do not know what to make of them. And I have believed them. You see, I look at the charismatic movement in...

    Acts 2 vs 1 Cor 14

I'm asking from a logical point. Why does the church even allow 95% of tongues and interpretation of the flesh to go on in His church? What do you think God's response would be? I would like to hear about the works of the mind-blowing functions of tongue. Thanks:)

Thank you. It seems I get more clarity as the thread gets longer.

    Acts 2 vs 1 Cor 14

hasing I've heard more than one preacher commented on the pulpit that the Bible is easy to understand. That cannot be true. If so, we wouldn't have this discussion. I believe we have to read the Scriptures and also hear from (godly) man's interpretation and we have to take our position with...

    Acts 2 vs 1 Cor 14

he I spent a total of 10 years in 2 charismatic churches. The former was a mega church. So, I've spoken in tongue for that long. When I was a young Christian, and in love, I was prepared to believe anything. 10 years on, I began to question about the gifts of tongues, falling under the power...
