How Do You Determine What You Will Or Will Not Listen To?

As a Christian (and a pastor) I believe I need to be discerning when it comes to the things I read, watch, and listen to. I consume a lot of secular media but I try to be careful of the things I do choose. How do you personally determine what is and isn't off limits for you? Just curious to...

    RIP Neil Peart

He was definitely one of the best rock drummers to ever live.

    Slade

I like some of Slade's stuff. They were a big inspiration to a lot of those 80's hair metal bands. Quiet Riot covered Cum On Feel The Noize and Mama Weer All Crazee Now. They had a brief comeback around that same time with Run Runaway and My Oh My. As far as that 70's glam stuff goes, I prefer...

    Is christian metal really bad????

I can imagine Jesus cranking some "death" metal as he drove the money changers out of the temple. I'm almost 50 years old. I have grown weary of the argument that some styles of music are evil simply because one might not like or understand it. Some classical music is just as dark and angry as...

Worried about Mark of the Beast

Whatever the mark of the beast was/is/will be, it is something that is taken intentionally with the knowledge of what it is. You don't accidentally get it.

    The Sunday Review

I officially began a series through the OT Prophets yesterday. I did a "background" sermon two weeks ago. Yesterday was Obadiah. Next week we'll be in Joel. Decent crowd yesterday considering how cold it is and how sick folks have been.

    90's Worship Music

I am forty-six years old. I can remember playing all that "new" stuff back in the late 80s and early 90s and hearing the "old" people make complaints (some of them valid). I now find myself doing the same thing now that I'm the "old" guy. Take that for what it's worth.

    The Sunday Review

I was away from the pulpit this past Sunday so I have nothing to report. My wife and I did chaperone the trip to the teen convention so that was a a good weekend. Attended some good workshops, heard some inspiring messages, and enjoyed some good music.

My wife and I are chaperoning some of the youth group to the Pursue Christian Teen Conference in Harrisburg this weekend. We're leaving at Noon. I'm excited to be going because I haven't had a chance to go in two years. This will be the first one my wife has been to. Everything kicks off tonight...

Secular music with Godly tones, or spiritual meaning to you...

Doug has pretty much renounced the faith and the last interview I saw with Jerry seemed to indicate the same with him. Don't know about Ty though. He doesn't talk about that kind of stuff much.

    Rich Mullins anyone?

He left the music business right around the time Rich died. Rich wrote Let Mercy Lead for Beaker's son Aiden.
