I need help with a systems change in youth

This is normal youth group stuff, so go for it! Easy places to help at, even in smaller communities, include hospitals, nursing homes, senior citizen groups. Even businesses- let a business know you're looking to help in the community and see if they want to "partner" with your group to do...

    Children's church curriculum recommendations

I'll be 100% honest. You mustmustmust have children's teachers who are Gifted. ie, gift of teaching form the HS. But not only this, the gift of teaching aimed at children. I know there's no "Gift of teaching those under 12" or something like that, but God obviously shapes us for specific...

    Photo release?

That's a good question. I was recording in my smartphone, for fun, a kid throwing a grape up and catching it with his mouth, and the Children's pastor came over and was like, "Uuhmmm. . .No. No recording, no phone." very direct, but I immediately understood the concern and sorta said "duh!" to...

Lead the life they have lived, reputable and wise for youth?

This post a few months old I know, but what the heck, let's take a stab at it. To my knowledge, that's not a scripture verse. There is a verse, 1Cor 11:1, Paul says "Imitate me, as I imitate Christ", but that's different than what you're getting at. There's Proverbs, "Lead up a child in the...

    NDEs and ADCs: Awesome Verifications

As far as looking strictly at world views- in America yes, you're correct. Go to India or the Middle east, and you'll have other enemies. I don't want to necessarily nitpick, I just want to be clear. I'd say something like, "The greatest enemy of the Christian faith of the modern westernized...

    NDEs and ADCs: Awesome Verifications

Your first post is missing number 2), wonder what it is. As for NDEs and ADCs, they might (might) show evidence of the supernatural, but by no means do they get us to Christianity, or even theism. Buddhists and Hindus and Wiccans have their own experiences as well. But this is good for...

    Trinity

Would we say, he was birthed from eternity, or in eternity, or has been eternally birthed, meaning Jesus/The Word has been around for all eternity? This is how I've always heard it. ie "eternally begotten". Being eternal would, I think, be necessary for Him to be God.

That's strangely worded to me, but ok cool.

    Trinity

Yes it does. This is not the same as, Jesus was God in substance. Unless you're getting something different from the phrase "Jesus was God in substance" then I'm getting from it. Just fwiw- I feel kinda silly and annoying, to keep pushing this. I hope that I haven't annoyed you too much...

    Trinity

Totally agree with this. Agree with this. This is what I'm confused about: When did the early Christians say "Jesus was God in substance". Maybe you're meaning something different by it, than what I'm getting from it. The phraseology of the creeds was meticulously and very carefully done...

    Trinity

There's no line in the Nicene Creed that says "Jesus is [or was]God in substance". It does says, "God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten not made, of one substance with the Father". I don't see the phrase "Jesus is [or was]God in substance". I read butch5's reply...

    Trinity

You don't have to believe me. Why should you- I'm just a random dude on some internet forums that you've never had any interaction with before. This being the case, maybe you could give me what I'm missing. Could you show me the creed(s), or the widely and uniformly accepted early church...

    Trinity

The op's question was: I assume she means, "Many people say the word "trinity" is not in the Bible, therefore it doesn't teach the trinity." That seems to be what she was asking, and that's what I was addressing. I'm glad we're also addressing and discussing the general question about the...

I'll quote butch5 again. I've never heard of read that before. I know about the Nicene creed, ousia, and all that stuff.

If she meant, since the word is not found in the Bible, then yes obviously this is exactly what she was inquiring about.

Not that I'm not contending with you, but I've never see or heard this language, "God was Jesus in substance"? Is this what you meant to type? If so, where have you heard this? I'm just curious, as I've never read or heard this.

Just to get this all in one post: Why cannot three personalities not constitute one God, without it being polytheism? You keep repeating this, but could you explain why? Or are we getting into the mysterious? If I try and explain my p.o.v. further, I start ending up in mystery, so I try...

    Trinity

I do not think it's a simple matter. As I said, I stated it simply, trying to get out of the whole metaphysics and formulas and such. It can be simple to state as I just did- but being simple inevitably gets bad theology. Thus we must explain and understand- but the explaining of it, and then...

    Trinity

What if we believe in *quote-unquote* "The Trinity" NOT because we read it in some church creed or have had tradition shoved down our throats, but because it seems to us what the Bible teaches? That there are three personal whatevers called God, but the three personal whatevers are not each...
