Obama care mandate - hurting middle class and lower income families.

What stats or facts would you like? Check registers showing our monthly healthcare premiums before and after Obamacare? Sorry. What you have done is claimed that everyone is saving money under Obamacare because you found some stats that show price acceleration is -- on average -- slowing down...

Obama care mandate - hurting middle class and lower income families.

Granted regarding the suggestion that Obamacare accelerated price inflation. However, that is not what I was addressing. The initial point of this thread was that some families are worse off under Obamacare. Mine is one of them.

    Problematic Background Check

If memory serves, the form only blocks people with a previous mental history for a very narrow set of reasons. You might want to take a look at the form and its instructions to see who is allowed to purchase and who is not (have a look right here). There may be some local restrictions in your...

Obama care mandate - hurting middle class and lower income families.

I'll not make such a presumption about Democrats as there are more than a few sharp ones out there. Some, however, appear adept at peeing on one's shoes and telling them its raining. You've missed my point entirely. You can quote statistics all night long, but my family is among those that are...

Obama care mandate - hurting middle class and lower income families.

Wow. So, my health insurance costs doubled, our annual deductible is higher and we're somehow saving money. Good to know.

Obama care mandate - hurting middle class and lower income families.

Really? My family gets to shell about about double what we paid for health insurance after Obamacare hit and our coverage is worse. Hence, the initial point of this thread.

Yes, we're all tickled pink that Obamacare accelerated that process. Yay. Whee. Hip-hip-hooray.

    Problematic Background Check

That's going above and beyond -- not that way in my state at all and the feds don't require private sellers to perform checks.

I might know too much about this stuff. We buy a few guns a year.

    Problematic Background Check

There's no problem with individuals transferring guns. Stores and individuals licensed to sell guns (FFL holders), however, must have the forms filled out before they can transfer firearms. That includes pawnbrokers unless, of course, they are selling historic weapons only.

Obama care mandate - hurting middle class and lower income families.

I can't disagree with a bit of that. Neither party has been stellar on this issue. Perhaps the best proposal I'd heard for health care reform was touted by Sen. John Boozman (R-Ark.) at a speech at the Catfish Hole in Fayetteville, Ark. back around 2004. He had floated the novel idea of...

Obama care mandate - hurting middle class and lower income families.

Whether someone is "hurting" or not is irrelevant when you're talking about a confiscatory system. Regardless, for my family of three, a silver plan costs about $11,000 per year and deductibles come to $2,500 per person -- $18,500 before our insurance does anything other than cover copays for...

Obama care mandate - hurting middle class and lower income families.

There are those of us who get no subsidy and do have to pay more for an ACA plan than our old insurance plan because it became the only option. There's nothing untruthful about stating that simple fact.

Obama care mandate - hurting middle class and lower income families.

What you're supposed to do is shut up and fork over the money, see? A good number of us business owners have no choice but to enroll in Obamacare and it is incredibly expensive is you receive no subsidy or a small one. That's just a fact and, sadly, the Republicans appear to have no viable...

What was the first gun you owned?

My first handgun was a Ruger GP100 .357 magnum with a 6" barrel. I wish I'd never sold it -- that was a fantastic revolver and I could shoot the wings off a fly with that thing.

Mike Pence went way out of his way to get offended.

Any government action punishing the NFL because players aren't sufficiently patriotic would also be a clear violation of the First Amendment. Private citizens, corporations and etc. can condemn anthem and flag protests all they want. The government, however, is absolutely forbidden from doing so.

Are you squeamish about the word "catholic"?

Still a lot of anti-Catholic bias out there, eh? I grew up in a Southern Baptist church hearing about what rascals the Catholics were because of this, that or the other. I'm still a member of that church and a lot of the anti-Catholic stuff has vanished. Perhaps people have finally come to...

What was the first gun you owned?

Now, the 22/410 over-and-under is awesome. My wife just had the one she received as a young girl restored because she didn't care for it as she should have and the years weren't kind to it.

What was the first gun you owned?

I, of course, received a Daisy BB gun when I was 7-years-old My first "real" gun, however, was a single-shot .410 shotgun my grandfather bought me. I didn't receive it until after he died when I was 18-years-old. Why? My parents hated having guns in the house. I still have it, still shoot it...

    "A well regulated militia..."

I'm actually proud of my kid for joining the military. My wife and almost her entire family served joined the military. Me? I wimped out and went to college and law school instead. My kid, at 18-years-old, made a far more mature choice than I did at that age by giving six years to his country...
