  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    EPC Presbyterian Denomination members

We've been attending an EPC congregation for a while and I've got some familiarity with the EPC going back almost 20 years.

    The Baptist Standard Bearer, Inc.

Are you interested in a review of their customer service, how well put together the books are or....? As you know, they are a significant publisher of historic Baptist works. They are probably the only current publisher for some of these works. My knee jerk reaction is to say that their books...

How do I choose a Reformed Church?

It certainly can be confusing. They don't call Presbyterians "Split-P's" for nothing. And that's not counting the variety of Dutch Reformed denominations and various Calvinistic Baptist groups. What direction to go depends on if you are looking for something evangelical/conservative or if you...

The Error of Dual Covenant Theology

So you're imploring people to support ministries that you allege are doing the very thing you are constantly railing against? SMH

The Error of Dual Covenant Theology

@BABerean2 why do you support Jews for Jesus and Word of Messiah Ministries, both of which are basically dispensational and Christian Zionist organizations? John Hagee isn't representative of dispensationalism on this issue. Dual Covenant theology is largely associated with liberalism and came...

Unhitching from the Old Testament the Andy Stanley error

It's not particularly helpful to comment on something you haven't read, IMO.

Are the majority of Reformed Christians Amillennial?

The soteriology of the early Plymouth Brethren was to a man Calvinistic. (Examples include Darby himself, Benjamin Wills Newton and George Muller.) That's what is meant by "coming out of the Reformed camp." It certainly didn't come out of the Wesleyan or Arminian camp. Keep in mind that...

Set readings like RCC in a Protestant church?

I can't remember where I saw it, but I remember reading somewhere recently that the current Roman Catholic practice was adopted from the Anglicans after Vatican II.

    The Reformation Study Bible

I stand corrected. Amazon is not always correct when it comes to Bible specifications (whether in print or OOP) but neither am I. But I checked other sources (including GoodReads) and they also say 2006. I think the Scofield III was issued in the NKJV in 2002 and then rather quickly in other...

Are the majority of Reformed Christians Amillennial?

Premil used to be far more common among covenantalists. I'd say it was much more common from maybe the early-mid 19th Century to around 1980 or so. This was typically found among Presbyterians who were more of a fundamentalist or broadly evangelical bent as opposed to strict confessionalists...

    The Reformation Study Bible

Actually, that distinction ironically goes to the Scofield III, which was issued in the ESV somewhere around 2002-2004 and went out of print after a few years. (How typical of me to post here for the first time in forever and start nitpicking) But what you're likely thinking of is that once...

Southern baptist symantics & SBC interactions w/ non-american

The SBC used to be part of the Baptist World Alliance, but withdrew from it several years ago because they thought the BWA was too liberal. I'm sure the IMB has partnerships with other churches worldwide, and some local SBC churches have relationships with Baptist churches in other countries...

What Are the Must-Read Books for Presbyterians/Reformed?

The kind of antisupernaturalism he opposed is alive and well in mainline churches. For starters I would cite the virgin birth and deity of Christ. It is not hard at all to find mainline ministers who deny both. And it wasn't hard to find them 20-30 years ago. And I live in the so-called...

What Are the Must-Read Books for Presbyterians/Reformed?

Pink later abandoned dispensationalism and repudiated his earlier dispensationalist works. While Pink often makes for profitable reading, if the OP is already a Presbyterian or is looking to only read Presbyterian and (paedobaptist) Reformed authors, sticking to the kind of things that AMR...

ND's stance on the promised baptism of the Holy Ghost

There is no non-denominational position on this question, just as there is no non-denominational position on Calvinism, etc. By definition non-denominational churches are independent and so generalization about them is very difficult if not impossible. That being said, in some parts of the...

IMB & Baptism on True Baptism

Anything in particular you want to discuss about this? I was baptized (immersed) in a congregation of the Wesleyan Church, which is very similar to the Nazarenes. Without going back and reviewing it again, to the best of my recollection it flunks the IMB test on at least two counts...

    Baptist Weddings

By "liberalization" I mean a relaxation or change (oops but that's impossible :) ) in views on certain things that they would have stood firm on years ago. (On the issue of marriage to non-Catholics I have to confess ignorance however.) To give some examples, 100 years ago (and perhaps right...

    Baptist Weddings

I agree. This is even more of a sign to slow down or stop altogether. As you've (the OP) already stated, you don't know where to begin. Who better to learn Roman Catholicism from than a RC priest? Conversely, you could talk to a Baptist pastor to better learn their beliefs. Is she a...
