how are distinct physical traits associated with race transmited to offspring if not by genes? "societal constucts" are not powerful enough to alter a humans morphology, but i could be wrong.

just wondering if anyone had some insight as to why human hair, when not cut, will grow all the way down to the ground, but only on the head? all other body hair has almost disappeared altogether. its not that its there that confuses me, only that its way longer than it needs to be to serve any...
