Cutting all ties is probably a little too harsh, BUT as Christians we should not agree or condone homosexuality period.

No i choose to follow God because of what He's done for me, AND because I love Him. In fact I deserve to go to hell, but because He's so graceful and merciful I won't go to hell.

Actually I chose God first, BUT my actions in my teen years were not good. I had a fallen away of sorts, but in the end Gods promise to forgive me remained.
