NEWS: "Orthodox Hierarch Urges Women's Ordination Dialogue"

Hello all, I was reading this thread and thinking about religious education for women. I am newly chrismated (July 19th, Glory to God!) and am an infant in the faith. I am moving up to NY to attend St. Vladimir's in a week or two to get an MA in theology. My main reason for doing this is...

OT: What was the most useful baby item you used?

Congratulations, choirfiend! I am not married nor have any children myself; but I have a new niece and a sister who is a nanny for many children. My sister mentioned the cups that conform on the babies forehead to wash their hair and help rinse out the suds without getting it into their little...

Proof that Gay Relationships are Wrong

I think it's important not to forget that being gay is not who you are. It is a battle that you struggle with, a distortion of God's intended purpose for sexual relations within the covenant of marriage. Don't let this sin become your identity. Christ is your identity, you are made new in Him...

how does the Orthodox Church view homosexuality?

It might be suggested that homosexuality is a spiritual disorder, that affects one mentally, or in totality, the mind, body, soul, spirit, nous. You are right that human nature is fallen, and that sexual desire has been distorted in many ways. Homosexuality is a distortion of God's created...

    Unleavened bread

I wrote a report about the different beliefs held of the celebration of the Eucharist for a class, and came across this issue while studying different faiths. It seemed like the issue arose from whether or not each faith believes that the celebration of the Eucharist is a continuation of the...

Please help me, my Orthodox brothers...

Coming from Protestantism, I almost regret that I never went through the Catholic Church before becoming Orthodox, just so I could truly know the RCC from the inside out. But on the other hand, I know I have found truth in Orthodoxy, and so no regrets. I agree with the two sides of the same coin...

    OT: Wisdom Teeth

I had IV sedation for my wisdom teeth surgery, and would highly recommend it, you won't be waking up during the surgery with IV sedation.

    OT: Wisdom Teeth

I had mine out when I was 17, it was a very easy surgery! The younger you are the better, I know several people in there 20's that have had more difficulties. But don't worry about it at all, I was eating regular food in 2 or 3 days. :D

    Marital Survey

I guess I'm just emo. I agree with momabug that arranged marriages tend to work out, and that our society does put too much emphasis on "the one" or else unrealistic expectations for how love and romance will be. I know that there are probably a good deal of people I could be happy with to some...
