Rick Scott: Not a Fan of Trains

Yeah, this is a little late, but personally I'm very annoyed at governor Scott's refusal to accept the funding to build a high speed rail. I mean it would be a little better if he was just upholding his values and as a result the money would be spared from exiting the hands of the government...

What Kind of Acts is God Opposed to?

... Specifically I mean. Okay well, I have this Christian friend, and he wants a girlfriend but he's afraid that if he obtains said girlfriend that they might disobey his moral code or something. I know the Christian God is against premarital sex, but does the Bible actually specifically say...

Why Aren't Electrons Pulled Into the Nucleus?

This is probably a question with an obvious answer, but I just started hon. chem & phys this year, so I don't really know. Why aren't the electrons in the orbitals pulled into the positive nucleus by magnetic force? This is very puzzling to me.

    Life vs. Non-Life

Now, it seems to me that there is a bit of trouble for some on this board trying to classify what is and is not life. [/LIST] (Links removed) (Source: Life - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) It's hard to believe that I actually have to do this, but let's see if plants check out with this...

    Jesus Christ: Superstar

I'm not a Christian, but that was a great musical. The people playing Jesus and Judas had crazy rock star voices. Has anybody else seen this?

    Openings You Hate

This thread is made to compile the openings that you hate when the opponent uses. My personal dislike is towards gambits, they just make me uneasy. I never take the pawn when offered a gambit, I just defend mine.

    Atheist Universe: Not Impossible

... And to me, it seems, very probable. BEFORE YOU READ: I realize that this theory / hypothesis / concept / whatever is not going to be the end-all creationism vs. atheism debate. This is just an idea I found interesting and wanted to see what everybody here thought about it. ON TO THE...

If there was nothing written about heaven...

If there was nothing written about heaven or hell in the Bible, would people still follow Christianity? To me it seems like it should be enough to follow a religion because you think it is right and / or makes sense. Following a religion just as a ticket to life after death seems wrong.

    Are Ethics Immoral?

Basically none of this can be proven, since it's all hypothetical, but here we go. Consider: Cloning humans is against ethics. Testing experimental disease treatments on humans is against ethics. If we cloned humans and tested disease treatments on them, cures for many diseases could be found...

Are people on this board more open minded than most?

I just say that because look what I found here: http://www.eternalchoice.com/atheism.php This was just so mindbogglingly and blatantly wrong and close minded that it actually made me thankful of the fundamentalists we have on this forum. At least they're not dead wrong. I mean... Holy crap...

    Are There Deistic Angels?

I know it's kind of odd for me, a Deist, to ask this question, but I'm pretty new to Deism (I just converted from Christianity a couple months ago) and it seems like a very subjective faith. I know that the primary belief is, of course, that G-d created the universe and then just walked away (or...

    A Paradox in Christianity

Let it first be known that it is not my intention with this post / argument / thing to insult those of the Christian faith in any way. That said, it is a point that sort of throws a monkey wrench into the whole Christian belief thing, so if you don't have an open mind please don't read this...

    Ehm... 'Sufferers'?

To quote the forum description: "The forum for the support of sufferers of ADHD/ ADD." Is there nobody else who finds the word 'sufferers' to be offensive? I mean, I'm sure it was not intended that way, but I do not 'suffer' from ADHD. It is the way I am, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
