    Historic Difficulties Administering Immersion-Only Baptism

As always, you are most kind. I am indifferent on this matter (for infants); while Scripture is clear that the old covenant is fulfilled, no where does the NT prohibit it.

Incarnated Sonship or Eternal Sonship of Jesus Christ?

The "body" was not prepared for Him, he was not inserted into a body... Mary conceived and bore a son. Because of the conception, Jesus and his body do not coexist; rather they are one being. Fully human and fully divine. Like you and I, conceived and born with His body; unlike you and I...

Where are they in the word of God?

Pharisees and Sadducees just to name two early divisions. In Catholicism, there are various "rites" and "Religious Orders"... Always has been; just never always called them that. Sects has been another term used in the past..

    Receptionism within the Lutheran church

Not really, that would require the congregation to relinquish the freedom and authority; just went through that skit; the congregation called for a review of the constitution, a review committee was voted on and appointed by the congregation. the Church council refused to hear the committees...

    Receptionism within the Lutheran church

While maybe not your intent, the fact is that your statements and generalization paint Lutheranism as a bunch of heterodox twerps. While some are, there are also those of us who maintain very universally orthodox practices regarding the Eucharist and their handling. This painting with a wide...

To vote in favor of sola scriptura testing of all doctrine and tradition

I voted yes. As a confessional Lutheran I am compelled to do so. However we do not have an issue with any (and all) tradition that neither contradicts scripture nor is forbidden by it. The application of the rule of Adiaphora expresses an understanding and application of "tradition" that is...

    Question on the Eucharist...

I think the answer is that we receive both His crucified body and blood, and His risin body and blood; after all it is His crucified body that was raised from the dead; not a different body. Our Lord still has both natures, human and divine.; the same body born of Mary.

    Question on the Eucharist...

Dr. Arthur Just describes it as "transcending both time and space; the alter is where heaven and earth come together at the consecration of the Eucharist. Christ is Emanual; "God with us". as Pastor chants in the Preface; this is the one for All Saints Day which fully embraces the idea of the...

What IS MATT 16:18 REALLY TEACHING ?

Well, first off, you can stop putting words in my mouth. Because Lutherans reject the doctrine of transubstantiation does not mean that we reject the doctrine the real presence of His very body and blood in the Eucharist. Neither do we hold what some protestants call consubstantiation...

What IS MATT 16:18 REALLY TEACHING ?

Don't be too hard on us Lutherans; Sola Scriptura is only one of the the five Solas; we value apostolic tradition very highly which is why we Confessional Lutherans have retained the use of the western form of the Mass; just not the traditions of men so much. Likewise holding to the real presence.

What IS MATT 16:18 REALLY TEACHING ?

Well, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ did, and He did it in very plane language.

Lutherans and Anglicans as well; which is the vast majority of Christians; maybe not in the block where you live.

What IS MATT 16:18 REALLY TEACHING ?

You know, numerically, most Christians world wide take our Lord at His Word; and consider this Blasphemy.

What IS MATT 16:18 REALLY TEACHING ?

I am talking about a "physical meeting space" and while being with like minded people would be nice, what about those who are stumbling or spirtually confused and even lost; all "Churches" have them. Should we not try to edify, lift up, strengthen and encourage those who are weak? What you...

What IS MATT 16:18 REALLY TEACHING ?

Incorrect, the Church was founded by Jesus Christ and through His apostles, to shun the Church and the fellowship of others,, in effect dispising the means of Grace, His Word, and the Sacraments. Excluding one's self from the fellowship of others is self imposed excommunication. ...where two...

What IS MATT 16:18 REALLY TEACHING ?

The Church is not the building; buildings are where the Church meets. They are a focal point for the congregation; a common place to fellowship and share in the grace of God. A Diocese/Synod are less localized but serve the same purpose: Supporting local congregations. The Church on earth...

What IS MATT 16:18 REALLY TEACHING ?

The ways through which God delivers salvation are manifold; Martin Luther expressed this in his explanation of the 3rd article of the Apostles Creed: I believe that I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to Him; but the Holy Ghost has called me by the...
